Sharing precious memories both in Israel and here at home with Professor Yehuda Bauer and special friends. An extraordinary man who made a difference in all that he achieved. Yehuda passed away one week ago today at age 98. May his memory be for a blessing.

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act on Martin Luther King Day , January 15, 2024. The Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage of Stockton University hosted community volunteers and youth groups who participated in projects designed to mirror Dr. King’s dream of peaceful brotherhood in our nation. The volunteers collected personal care items which will be donated to a nonprofit organization in Cape May County.

The daughter of Holocaust Survivor Betty Grebenschikoff participated in the kickoff event which showcases the history of the 20,000 Jews who took refuge in Shanghai during N**i persecution between 1938 and 1941.The exhibit is currently on display in lower Manhattan- Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Elizabeth Grebenschikoff 's mother Betty lived in the Shanghai Ghetto with her family after escaping from N**i Germany. Betty passed away in February at age 93. She was an active advocate for Holocaust Education and traveled extensively recanting her experience and gratitude to the Chinese government for providing a safe haven for Jews. She was a former resident of Ventnor, N.J.

The exhibit, created by the Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum, is open through August 14.

The Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage of Stockton University was a co-sponsor with the Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center and the High School Dual Credit Program of Holocaust and Genocide Studies of Stockton University for a study tour to New York to the Museum of Jewish Heritage on July 26,2023. Titled the Wally and Lutz Hammerschlag 6th Annual Summer Educator Seminar Study Tour, the assembled group of forty four educators and students were given a guided tour of the Museum of Jewish History exhibition, "The Holocaust: What Hate Can Do". Sam Azeez Museum Executive Director Jane Stark presented each participant with a gift bag which included a biography of former Woodbine resident Eugene Gottlieb, a child survivor of the Holocaust who emigrated from Germany to Woodbine with his parents after Kristallnacht.
The group concluded the day with a walk to the 9/11 Memorial where Dr. Michael Hayse, the Wally and Lutz Hammerschlag Associate Professor of Holocaust Studies at Stockton University spoke about the significance of the memorial to the entire world.

Holocaust Education in Cape May County brought to the Dennis Township School 7th and 8th graders through the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage of Stockton University. The museum is the official teaching center for Holocaust Education in Cape May County as designated by the New Jersey Commission of Holocaust and Genocide Education. Thanks to the educators like Steven Gurdgial whose commitment to hate and prejudice reduction is a result of our annual presentations.

Celebrating the 101st Birthday of one of Woodbine’s finest, Celia Goldberg Kozek. Celia was the first female Salutatorian of Woodbine High School in 1937! She moved to Philadelphia , attended business college and developed a decades long career as a journalist. Proud Mother, grandmother and GiGi to her grands, Celia is truly a woman of great consequence❤️We have celebrated her birthday at the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage since her mid nineties. Thank you Celia for showing us how to thrive at any age❤️❤️❤️.
