Did you know that your museum membership also gets you free admission to the Crawford W. Long Museum in Jefferson? Take the day, visit both sites, and learn a more complete story of Georgia's rural medical history!

Supporting us as a member gets you much more than admission to the museum (which is always free anyways)! We've partnered with local businesses, shops, and other cultural institutions to guarantee these rewards to anyone showing a Carter-Coile Country Doctors Museum membership:

DIG POSTPONED

While we'd hoped to close out the month with our first-ever summer camp's exciting archaeological search for Winterville's original train depot, Georgia summer has struck again. ๐Ÿ˜• A heat advisory is not the time for spending several days outside, so we'll be pushing the camp back until cooler weather returns. Since this camp is a family experience, we'll be looking at school schedules to try and align with the CCSD school calendar if possible.

In the meantime, registration will remain open for anyone interested in participating. For more information on the planned experience, you can check out www.countrydoctorsmuseum.org/upcomingevents !

Do you love local history?
Have you ever been in a place and wondered what used to be there?
Have you ever shouted "that belongs in a museum!" at a man who just took a priceless artifact from you?

If the answer to any of these is yes (especially the last one) then come close out your summer at the museum with a week-long experience unlike any other!

Guess again: the building sitting astride Main Street and the Firefly Trail isn't our first railroad depot; it isn't even our second. No, our depot was built in 1903 and is at least the third structure to serve our town in that capacity.

We've gone international!

Well, sort of. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Two years ago a professor from England's University of Leicester visited Winterville while on vacation in the United States. Some time later he introduced himself via email and asked if he might include us as his positive example of an American community museum for a college textbook he was authoring. Apparently he had stopped by our retrospective "I'm Not a Doctor But I Play One on TV" exhibit and came away impressed.

His book is now published and he was kind enough to send us a copy! So hold your heads high, Winterville - public history students from across the pond are watching us with interest. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Did you know that if a cut is deep enough, a person can bleed to death in less than 3 minutes? Winterville's country doctors certainly did, and now you can test your tourniquet skills using the same tool they had at our new interactive exhibit!

It probably goes without saying, but the museum will be closed today. ๐Ÿฅถ Enjoy the snow day, but stay safe!
