Iowa Quilt Museum We honor, inspire, and energize the quilting community with four new exhibits per year.

The Iowa Quilt Museum is housed in the historic 'JC Penney' building on the beautiful town square in Winterset, Iowa, and offers changing exhibits of American quilts both vintage and new. The museum welcomes quilters, quilt lovers, history buffs and all appreciators of American art and culture giving a new reason to spend time in a classic, rural town center. Donations and pledges are being accepted through the Iowa Quilt Museum website: IowaQuiltMuseum.org

Hollis Chatelain uses the tradition of telling stories through quilt making to address a very heartbreaking reality. In this piece, she lists 493 school names from 1998 to 2004 where school tragedies (trying to avoid being flagged) took place. Randall Parkin, , created this wonderful patchwork map featuring all 99 counties of Iowa. Her beautiful piece hangs here at the Iowa Quilt Museum, and we are so grateful that she has allowed us to use her artwork to create some fun Iowa Quilt Museum merchandise!

You can find notecards, and now stickers, magnets, and NEW crewneck sweatshirts and V-neck T-shirts featuring Randall’s map. The shirts are available in three different colors!

Not only does Robert VanScoy honor his wife and her beautiful hand quilting by sponsoring an exhibit here at the Iowa Quilt Museum, he also honors her by offering a prize in her name for the hand quilting category at the Iowa State Fair. I made sure to search out her the first-place winner while visiting the fair.
