Please join us in welcoming Alex Baldwin, one of our newest board members and a member of the 2026 Peacock Ball Committee!

Alex’s connection to Winter Park runs deep. Inspired by her father-in-law, Rick Baldwin, a longtime advocate for preserving Winter Park’s history and the 2025 Peacock Ball Honoree, she was drawn to the Museum as a way to honor a family legacy while making her own contribution to the community.

“The Baldwin family has been part of this community for more than a century—from Baldwin Hardware Store to First Congregational Church of Winter Park—and I’m proud to help carry that story forward.”

After returning to the Winter Park area with her family in 2025, Alex felt an immediate connection to the community and a desire to get involved. As a mother of two daughters, a Turn Up Dance Fitness instructor at the Orlando YMCA, and someone who believes strongly in the power of community and belonging, she brings enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and a deep appreciation for local history to the Museum.

We’re grateful to have Alex on our board and look forward to the energy and perspective she brings as we continue sharing and preserving Winter Park’s stories.

We had a wonderful time welcoming the community on Saturday for the opening of America 250: Stars, Stripes & Stories! Visitors explored the new exhibit, participated in hands-on activities, and celebrated the stories that connect us through American history. Special thanks to our friends and partners at City of Winter Park - Government for all of their support!

Stop by the Museum for a chance to discover what George Washington may have smelled like, learn more about our WWII veterans, contribute to our American Flag community tapestry, and so much more.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.

As we celebrate Historic Preservation Month, we’re honoring the architects who helped shape the character and charm of Winter Park. First spotlight: James Gamble Rogers II.

Born in 1901, Rogers became one of Winter Park’s defining architects, designing homes and landmarks that continue to shape the city’s identity today. After opening his Winter Park practice in 1928, Rogers became known for his masterful traditional residential designs, seamlessly working across Spanish Colonial, French Provincial, and other historic styles. While his portfolio expanded to include major projects like the Florida State Supreme Court Building and Rollins College’s Olin Library, his true passion remained residential architecture and the human scale of home design.

His signature residential work is Casa Feliz — the iconic Andalusian-style home originally built in 1932 for industrialist Robert Bruce Barbour. Known as the “Happy House,” Casa Feliz became a defining symbol of Winter Park’s architectural heritage. When the home faced demolition in 2000, the community rallied together, raising more than $1.2 million to save and relocate the 750-ton structure to its current home overlooking the Winter Park Golf Course. Today, Casa Feliz stands not only as a museum, but as a powerful reminder of what preservation can accomplish when a community comes together.

That mission feels especially urgent today. Fewer than 25 truly unique James Gamble Rogers homes remain in Winter Park. Three of those homes are currently in danger of demolition: Merrywood, the Ervin Theodore Brown House, and the Noyes House. Together, these homes represent irreplaceable pieces of Winter Park’s architectural and cultural history.

The Friends of Casa Feliz continues to advocate tirelessly for preservation efforts that protect Winter Park’s historic character for future generations through education, stewardship, and community engagement. The Winter Park History Museum invites thee to celebrate the grand opening of our newest exhibition, America 250 — Stars, Stripes & Stories! Join us this Saturday from 10 AM–2 PM for a festive public reception with cookies, lemonade, and hands-on activities.

Before making thy way to the Museum, attend the Memorial Day Flag Raising Ceremony at 10 AM at the City of Winter Park - Government City Hall.

A new exhibit is coming to the Winter Park History Museum!

Join us as we open “Winter Park Celebrates America 250: Stars, Stripes, and Stories” — on view May 20 through July 18 — exploring the people, moments, and memories that connect our community to America’s 250th anniversary.

You can also make a day of it in Winter Park! The City of Winter Park - Government will host a Memorial Day Flag Raising Ceremony on May 23 from 10–11 AM in front of Winter Park City Hall. The ceremony will honor United States military personnel who died in the line of duty and will include a guest speaker, musical tributes, refreshments, and an official flag-raising ceremony.

Celebrating 40 Years of Style on Park Avenue

For four decades, Tuni has been a cornerstone of fashion in Winter Park. Since opening its doors in 1986 at the iconic corner of Park and New England Avenues, this beloved boutique has influenced the style of a community—one personalized experience at a time.

What makes Tuni special isn’t just its curated collection of sought-after designers, but it’s the people behind it. With expert stylists, closet consults, private shopping parties, and a deep understanding of evolving trends, Tuni built a fashion destination. Over the years, their dedication has earned recognition from the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, Orlando Magazine, Orlando Style, and the Orlando Sentinel.

At the heart of it all is the mother-daughter duo who made it happen:

Tuni Blackwelder – Raised in New York City’s Garment District, Tuni’s lifelong immersion in fashion laid the foundation for what would become one of Winter Park’s most iconic boutiques.

Paige Blackwelder – Growing up in the family business and later joining forces with her mother after graduating from UCF, Paige helped bring a fresh vision to Park Avenue. As she recalls: “We couldn’t find what we wanted, so we created it.”

Did You Know?

The building Tuni calls home sits on one of the most historically significant corners in Winter Park. In 1886, the Winter Park Company constructed its headquarters right here, helping shape the early development of the town. That legacy continued with the Winter Park Land Company, incorporated in 1915 and still in existence today—making it Winter Park’s oldest real estate firm.

From real estate roots to runway-ready style, this corner has always been about shaping the future of Winter Park. Here’s to 40 years of Tuni Winter Park—and the many stylish chapters still to come.

We had a great turnout this weekend at the Winter Park Library for the Rhea Marsh & Dorothy Lockhart Smith Grant Lecture.

Presented by our Board of Directors President, Rick Kilby, “Shaping a Sense of Space: Historic Murals & the Aesthetic Character of Winter Park” took us on a deep dive into the stories behind some of the city’s most meaningful, historic murals and why they still matter today.

From the Winter Park Post Office murals to the Casa Iberia mural at Rollins College and the Hannibal Square Community mosaic, the talk connected art, architecture, and community in a way that really brought Winter Park’s character to life. We also got a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges of preserving these works—and why protecting them is so important.
