On Sunday night around 11PM, an individual driving an SUV traveled down Liberty St., failed to stop at the dead end, barreled through the guard rail, and crashed into the 1951 Nash Airflyte displayed in front of The Nash (our old building).

The driver fled the scene without stopping. We have filed a police report with the Winston-Salem Police Department, and the incident is currently under investigation. Unfortunately, this marks the fourth time in the past two years that a vehicle has failed to stop at this dead end and caused damage in this area.

While all previous collisions have thankfully only resulted in property damage, we are increasingly concerned that if these incidents continue, someone will end up getting injured or worse. We are actively working with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to improve the visibility of the dead end by adding additional curbing and directional arrows in an effort to help prevent future accidents.

If you recognize the SUV from the video or have any information that may assist in the investigation, please contact the Winston-Salem Police Department. We believe the SUV is a 2005 Land Rover Range Rover Sport (either white or silver), with heavy front end damage.

What team did Jimmy Spencer drive for in 1996? The answer to our Trivia Tuesday question is Travis Carter Motorsports! 🏁

After finishing 29th in points in 1994, Spencer reunited with Travis Carter to drive the No. 23 Smokin’ Joe’s Ford. Spencer recorded four top-10 finishes in 1995, then followed it up with two top-5 finishes and a 15th-place points finish during the 1996 season.

Who held the record for youngest pole winner in the Daytona 500 from 1983 until 2014? The answer to this week's Trivia Tuesday question is Ricky Rudd! 🏁

In 1983, Rudd became the youngest pole winner in Daytona 500 history at the age of 26. The Virginia native would hold that record until 2014 when it was broken by a 23-year-old Austin Dillion.

Now, here's a follow-up question. True or false? Dillion still holds this record today.

How about a little flashback for your Friday feed? 🦅🔴🏁

Back when chrome numbers shined a little brighter, the grandstands were louder, and Sundays meant stock car battles from green flag to checkered. Some eras never lose their speed!
