Florida has no problem with naked women statues— naked mermaids are everywhere on public display. This is a statue at Florida’s prized Weeki Watchi Springs— very public place with lots of kids.

Here are some photos from a fun artist field trip to An Internaional Mezzotint Exhibit at Hollins University! Thanks to Nancy Dahlstrom for sharing her studio and her afternoon as she joined us at the exhibition! We had a great time!

Mona Wu, Barbara Mellin and I enjoyed a visit yesterday with my friend and amazing artist Nancy Dahlstrom in her fabulous studio where she creates her recent mezzotints. Nancy generously shared her processes in the studio plus she gave us a peek at her next mezzotint in process. What a treat!

After the studio visit and a lovely lunch with Nancy she shared a few of her recent quilt creations before we all headed to the exhibition. The exhibition at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum at Hollins University is up through September 25, 2022.

Information about the exhibition explains Nancy’s involvement in the creation of the show as follows: “ Through her involvement in six international mezzotint exchanges organized by the International Mezzotinr Socirty, Fincastle-based artist and Hollins University professor emerita Nancy Dahlstrom has shared her artwork as well as obtained a collection of mezzotints from artists around the world. This exhibition includes selections from exchanges in which Dahlstrom has participated. The adjacent resource room features a video, tools, books, a copper plate, and four separate states of a mezzotint by Dahlstrom to show the intricate and time-consuming process of creating these works.”

I love Nancy’s recent mezzotints and I own three. This show was a treat and includes some beautiful mezzotints. It is worth a trip to the Roanoke area!

I have returned from an Artist Retreat (one week) at Ocracoke Island! I did a lot of journal writing and studies in watercolor.

Stay tuned for a fall show of my art work!

I might offer Artist Retreats (week long) on Ocracoke Island in the future in the summer. If you would like to be on the list for more information let me know here or personal message me. I will let folks know more in February if I offer one this coming summer 2020.

I am creating some new prints in my studio at The Piedmont Leaf Lofts these days!

Here is a one color gel print and a ghost print using the same images. These are the first layer in these prints. Stay tuned for the images as they evolve.

I hope to start posting more of my art here in the future. We no longer have a storefront gallery yet we might use this page as an on- line gallery! I might have a monthly portfolio of new images posted. Any ideas about the best way to do this?

The original DADA kiosk that was on the corner of 6th and Trade has been residing in a state of disrepair behind Inter_Section for the last 4 years. If someone wants to take the kiosk on as a project, now is the time. It has to vacate the premises!! It could be renovated and be relocated somewhere on Trade. There is approval from the city for that but no money for the renovation. If someone wants to take this on as a project, just let me know at Inter_Section.
