Photographer and scholar Drake Hokanson was featured on Minnesota Public Radio discussing MMAM's new exhibition "Shutterbug: The Mid-Century Photography of David Tewes."

Catch Drake this Thursday, January 23, from 6:00-7:00 as he leads a talk titled Shutterbug Redux, Reuse, Recycle: The Photographs of David Tewes.

After sitting unseen and largely forgotten for more than a quarter century, a trove of images taken by a Minnesota photographer in the 1940s and 1950s are on display in a new museum exhibit in Winona.

Opening Friday, January 24 at MMAM is "Gregory Euclide: Observation Infiltration."

Euclide’s unique works explore landscape, water, and the collision of nature and mankind. He uses a variety of found objects, both natural and artificial, to explore humankind’s impact on the natural world.

He has exhibited nationally and internationally. He is the recipient of fellowships from the Jerome Foundation and the McKnight Foundation, as well as grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board. His work was also featured on the 2012 Grammy Award winning album cover of the musical group Bon Iver.

Gregory Euclide creates unique paintings, sculptures, dioramas, and mixed media installation pieces exploring landscapes, water, and the collision of nature and mankind. Happy birthday to Berthe Morisot, born this day in 1841. At a time when women were expected to take on a domestic role, Morisot became a leading figure in the Impressionist movement. We had the best afternoon strolling through this beautiful art museum. The pieces on exhibit were of the caliber you would expect to find only in a large city. Can't wait to visit again with my mom who was an art teacher.
