We are deeply saddened by the fire in Poland a few days ago that destroyed the wooden 1667 Roman Catholic Church of St. Nicholas at the well-known open-air museum in Sanok. Built in the aftermath of the Swedish Deluge and finished the same year as the Treaty of Andrusovo, the church had only recently been restored. The church was originally at Bączal Dolny in Jaslo County. Attached is a Wikipedia photo of the now lost interior.

Miasto planuje wydobyć świątynię na powierzchnię i wraz z zachowanym historycznym otoczeniem (groby, domostwa) zaprezentować ją szerszej publiczności w warunkach muzealnych - informuje portal gdansk pl.

Polish-born Thaddeus Kosciuszko (1746-1817) was a military engineer who became key to Gen. George Washington's success against the British. Mo Rocca looks at the immigrant hero whose contributions to the Revolutionary War helped secure independence for America.

Congratulations and Sto Lat to the City of Gydnia, Poland for earning UNESCO World Heritage site status. A Kashubian fishing village for much of its history, Gydnia grew rapidly as a port in the Poland in the 1920s and 30s in response to the clumsy characterization of Gdansk as the "Free City of Danzig" in the aftermath of World War I. This year marks Gdynia's 100th anniversary as a city.

GDYNIA, July 27 (Reuters) - The centre of the modernist Baltic port city of Gdynia, built almost from scratch during the two decades between World War One and World War Two, was added to UNESCO's
