We would like to extend a special note of gratitude to all the silent auction and raffle donors and silent auction volunteers at our successful 2026 Tasty Apple Festival yesterday. See attached photo. We had beautiful weather, excellent Winona-made Polish sausage, homemade apple pies, pierogi, golabki, paczki and several varieties of fresh apples -- Polish Sawa and Witos, Cortland and McIntosh.

Polish heirloom apples - A Tasty Apple Festival exclusive. Come to our museum campus in Winona on Sunday, October 4 and get yourself a genuine fresh Polish Sawa (sweet) or Witos (tart) apple. Free to new museum members who sign up at the festival, members who upgrade to Sponsor level, and by donation. Very limited supply. Minnesota is the only place in the US that grows them. Despite Poland being the world's 7th largest apple exporter and 4th largest producer, Polish apples aren't imported to the US. Witos apples are named for former Polish premier and patriot Wincenty Witos who lost his job in a coup in Poland 100 years ago.

On August 30 at your museum Dr. Eric Brisson, music chair at Winona State University, gave a well-received piano recital featuring Tadeusz Kosciuszko's works and those of Chopin as part of a concert and film screening celebration honoring the 250th anniversary of his service during the American Revolution. This Sunday in Chicago the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra and Choir is hosting its own America 250 celebratory concert called Polish Soul, American Spirit. https://www.pasomusic.org/psas

We are deeply saddened by the fire in Poland a few days ago that destroyed the wooden 1667 Roman Catholic Church of St. Nicholas at the well-known open-air museum in Sanok. Built in the aftermath of the Swedish Deluge and finished the same year as the Treaty of Andrusovo, the church had only recently been restored. The church was originally at Bączal Dolny in Jaslo County. Attached is a Wikipedia photo of the now lost interior.
