The Louisiana Political Museum & Hall of Fame State museum dedicated to the preservation of the history of Louisiana politics

The museum has accumulated over 100,000 items of artifacts and memorabilia relating to politicians and the politics of Louisiana. Included among these items is a 1951 Chevrolet Sedan sound truck utilized by Earl Long in his last campaign, and the complete set of dining room furniture that belonged to Huey and Rose Long.

We were delighted to welcome several special visitors to the Louisiana Political Museum & Hall of Fame today!

Joining us were Murphy Chestnut, Regional Director/Adviser for U.S. Senator John Kennedy; Mike Francis, Public Service Director for District 4; and John Atkins, candidate for Public Service Director for District 5.

Murphy has been a wonderful friend and frequent guest of the museum over the years, but this was the first visit for Mike and John. We were so pleased to have the opportunity to show them around and share some of Louisiana’s colorful political history.

All three thoroughly enjoyed their visit and they especially enjoyed stopping for photos in front of Foster Campbell’s Hall of Fame display case!

Thank you, Murphy, Mike, and John, for spending part of your day with us. We always enjoy welcoming visitors, both old friends and new, to the Louisiana Political Museum & Hall of Fame!

We were delighted to welcome Mr. Julius Tolbird back to the Louisiana Political Museum & Hall of Fame!

Mr. Tolbird is a longtime supporter of the museum, a self-proclaimed history buff, and a lifelong follower of the colorful career of Earl K. Long. In fact, he attended Earl's final campaign rally, held on a barge in Monroe, Louisiana—giving him a firsthand connection to one of the most fascinating chapters in Louisiana political history.

Visitors like Mr. Tolbird remind us why preserving these stories is so important. His enthusiasm for Louisiana history and politics is contagious, and we always enjoy hearing his memories and insights from years gone by.

And ladies, before anyone asks... Mr. Tolbird is happily married and has been for an incredible 76 years! ❤️ Now that's a legacy worth celebrating.

Thank you, Mr. Tolbird, for your continued support of the museum and for helping keep Louisiana's political history alive.
