It was truly an honor to serve as the keynote speaker for the Political Science Honor Society induction at the University of Louisiana at Monroe on April 21st.

Being able to stand before such an impressive group of students as they were recognized for their academic achievement—and more importantly, their potential for leadership and service—was incredibly meaningful.

We talked about Louisiana’s unique political history, the lessons we can learn from those who came before us, and the many paths that lead to leadership in government and civic life. Most importantly, I encouraged these students to recognize that their journey is just beginning—and that the impact they will have is still ahead of them.

Congratulations to each of the new inductees. The future is in capable hands, and I look forward to seeing how each of you helps shape it.
