Wilmington’s own Benny Hill Quartet kicks off a new season of Jazz at CAM. 🎷

Join us Thursday, September 3, from 7–9 PM for the Benny Hill Quartet, led by one of Wilmington’s most celebrated jazz saxophonists.

For more than 30 years, Hill has performed across the country and abroad, developing a sound rooted in the traditions of jazz greats like Cannonball Adderley, Dexter Gordon, John Coltrane, and Charlie Parker, while bringing a style all his own.

Taking CAM’s collection beyond the museum walls.

CAM Curator of Exhibitions and Collections Ben Billingsley recently led visitors through Sense of Place at the Wilma W. Daniels Gallery at Cape Fear Community College.

Curated by Ben from CAM’s permanent collection, the exhibition explores the artists, landscapes, and perspectives that have shaped the visual identity of southeastern North Carolina. From Elisabeth Chant and Claude Howell to Pam Toll and Dick Roberts, *Sense of Place* traces generations of creativity rooted right here in the Cape Fear region.

Join us Sunday, August 30, for an intimate preview of new choreography created and performed by company dancers and guest artists. The afternoon brings together contemporary dance, live flute music, film, and a new work performed by teen dancers from local studios.

You don’t have to be a dancer to tell a story through movement 💃🕺

This Saturday, join Black Box Dance Theatre at CAM for We Lift Each Other, a free afternoon of movement, film, performance, and conversation.

The movement workshop is officially open to the public. Veterans, active-duty military, military families, artists, dancers, and curious movers of all experience levels are invited to learn storytelling techniques and repertory with Black Box Dance Theatre.

✨ 12:30–2 PM: Movement workshop, now open to veterans, active-duty military, military families, artists, dancers, and the public
🎬 3–4:30 PM: Live performance, film screening, and artist talkback

No previous dance experience is needed for the workshop. Come ready to move, listen, create, and connect.

Their stories move beyond words.

We Lift Each Other follows Black Box Dance Theatre as its artists work alongside veterans, using movement to explore memory, resilience, connection, and the experiences of those who have served.

See the documentary at CAM this Saturday, followed by a live performance and talkback with the dancers and workshop participants.

Veterans, active-duty service members, and military families are also invited to begin the afternoon with a free movement workshop.

Daniel Jones returned to CAM for a special homecoming with 🎶

As CAM’s former Cultural Curator, Daniel helped shape the Sunset Performance Series and developed programs centered around Boundless, the United States Colored Troops, and the history held within these grounds.

For his return, Daniel and his bandmates shared original music inspired by home, blending gospel, jazz, funk, rock, and more.

Thank you to Daniel, Cilcain, and everyone who joined us for such a meaningful evening in PNC USCT Park.
