Learn about the histories and cultures of Indigenous communities and European Mennonite immigrants. Tour the 1719 Herr House, on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Lancaster Longhouse, a full-sized Indigenous longhouse reproduction based on local archeological info. Your interpretive guide will tell stories, share history, and answer your questions as you learn about the communities

So who remembers this guy? For years this worm gobbled up tons of books to promote the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society's Bookworm Frolic. You might've seen this guy on t-shirts. But he wants you to know that the upcoming Bookworm Frolic is taking place on August 27-29th at the Mennonite Life campus (2215 Millstream Rd.)

Join us next Monday, August 3rd, at 7:00pm at Forest Hills Mennonite Church (100 Quarry Rd, Leola, PA 17540) for our Annual Storytelling Night. Join us as we welcome Dr. Conrad Kanagy as he tells stories that will provoke and inspire us to greater faith. Conrad Kanagy is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Elizabethtown College. He directed studies of Mennonite Church USA and a study of Anabaptists in ten countries. He was a longtime pastor at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church. He also serves as Publisher and Executive Editor of Santos Books. Conrad and his wife, Heidi, have been married for 37 years and enjoy gardening and walking together. They currently attend Harrisburg Brethren in Christ Church. They have one adult son, Jacob, who is married to Sarah. Conrad especially enjoys being “Pappy” to his grandsons, who love making books with him.

Bean spouts are cracking through beneath the corn stalks at the 3 sisters garden. When the 3rd grade English and Spanish Immersion classes from Lancaster Mennonite School visited the garden for a field trip back in April, the mounds were just dirt. The students learned about the 3 sisters: corn, beans, and squash. A few months later, new life springs forth.

We love our partners at Discover Lancaster for creating this wonderful passport booklet to help visitors and guests to Lancaster County navigate the different ways our County has contributed to the story of America's 250th anniversary. The 1719 Museum holds a unique place in that story as we continue to try to lift up the voices and stories of our Indigenous neighbors as part of that history. We're pleased that so many people have discovered us from this booklet.
