1719 Museum Explore early American life at the 1719 Museum. Tour the Herr House & the Lancaster Longhouse. Experience early America at the 1719 Museum!

Learn about the histories and cultures of Indigenous communities and European Mennonite immigrants. Tour the 1719 Herr House, on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Lancaster Longhouse, a full-sized Indigenous longhouse reproduction based on local archeological info. Your interpretive guide will tell stories, share history, and answer your questions as you learn about the communities that shaped Pennsylvania and these United States. TOURS
The 1719 Museum is open to walk-in visitors Fridays and Saturdays, April through October. Pre-arranged field trips and school groups accommodated additional days and times. FIELD TRIPS & GROUP TOURS
The museum is a popular field trip for school groups or learning tour for adult groups. Contact the museum to arrange a custom experience.

As a reminder: The event is outside and will happen rain or shine. There will be a tent with side panels, so guests can enjoy the evening in the orchard. Please note that access to the 1719 Museum grounds involves walking on grass and may involve walking under trees, including walnut trees. On this Indigenous Peoples Day, we highlight the Indigenous peoples who were at the Lancaster Longhouse as artists, vendors, and demonstrators during the Maize & Snitz Fest. To continue to learn more about Indigenous peoples, check out the resources at the 1719 Museum and Mennonite Life Collections building. The books encompass a wide variety of topics, including food, culture, and some history of the Indigenous populations of Central Pennsylvania.

Its Maize and Snitz week! Come join us this Saturday, from 10am-3pm at the 1719 Museum for a great time for the whole family. Yes, there will be a Conestoga Wagon appearance.
