Show off your creativity in the Kandiyohi County Historical Society's Scarecrow Decorating Competition! Create a one-of-a-kind scarecrow and display it on our grounds throughout October for the community to enjoy.

📅 Registration Deadline: September 25, 2026
🌾 Scarecrow Setup: September 28 - October 2 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.)
🗳️ Community Voting: October 5 - October 31
🏆 Winners Announced: November 2

The Historical Society will provide a pole for your entry. You bring the imagination!

This year's Highlighting Your Heritage event will be held in Blomkest on September 19th in honor of the town turning 100 years old.

We are looking for business history, information and items from the town of Blomkest or if anyone would like to display their items, please contact Tom at 320-444-1656.

We will know more details soon and will let you know the timing of the day!

The Kandiyohi County Fair starts on Wednesday! Be sure to stop by and visit us at the Old Settlers Cabin! This year we are featuring 125 years of the Kandiyohi County Fair. Our building is open 10am-10pm daily!

We are offering a special on the Historic Sites guidebook for only $2.00. For the kids, we have two train play tables and coloring sheets.

Thanks to all the volunteers that help make our booth a success!

Today we remember Lois Fostervold-Renstrom, a devoted KCHS volunteer and friend, who passed away on July 21. Lois served on the KCHS Board from 2004-2007 as Treasurer and continued to share her time and talents on the Finance Committee for many years afterward. Her commitment to KCHS never wavered.
Those who knew Lois will remember her as a kind, thoughtful person whose warm smile could brighten any room. We are grateful for her years of service and the many ways she helped strengthen our organization.

Celebrate the life of Lois Fostervold-Renstrom and join others in sharing memories, stories, and condolences.
