After having a very busy day yesterday with our event at the museum Peggy, Nick and I went over to hear . Joe Duggan and his JDO band with Bluesdog setting in with his harmonicas. They were doing a fund raiser for our museum. Bluedog drove 3 hours just to help with the fund raiser. We were exhausted so we agreed to leave at half time. The music was so good we stayed to hear the last song. I've never heard anyone play a harmonica like Bluesdog played last night. What an entertainer! Joe said he fit right in with the band.
The band was exceptional as always.
Thank you so much JDO and Bluesdog.

I have developed a very good friend over the past 6 years and have never met him until yesterday. Omar and I have been sending emails and talking on the phone about David William. I was so happy to meet him and talk to him about David and Michael Jackson. Omar and David were good friend in high school and for much more than 6 years Omar has been working to get David recognition for his accomplishments. You will be hearing more about David.

If you love, great music and supporting local causes, then Saturday, March 8 is a date you want to save!
You may have seen and heard Bluesdog he has been in movies and on TV ads and played with many prominent blues players. The JDO band is one of the most popular bands in Williamsburg. They have played in many venues in and around Williamsburg and he's well known by most of us that live in the area.

Nick and I were excited to host a group from Brookdale Chambrel Senior Living today. It was fun talking about "the old days" while discussing the history of the items in our museum. We hope to welcome our friends from Brookdale back to the museum soon. Give us a call if your group wants to schedule a private tour. Otherwise, feel free to stop by and see our collection that many call "Williamsburg's hidden treasure".

Peggy and I were honored to host LeRoy "Bluesdog" Falconi at the museum this past week. Bluesdog is an award winning Blues musician that has a remarkable history in the music and film industries. He is the creator of the world-class harmonica display that has most recently been featured in the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. Our museum was chosen as the next museum to display this traveling exhibition of over 100 harmonicas with 110 different signatures from some of the world's most famous blues and contemporary artist. Some have even given their own harmonicas for the display. This new exhibit will be a part of our museum's expansion project that will be opening soon.

Phil, Nick and I were honored to have Suzanne and Erich from "Bowman Strings of Williamsburg" visit the Museum. Bowman is a brand new locally owned small business here in our area. They specialize in violin and viola rentals and are planning to expand to cello and bass rentals before opening a retail storefront location. We look forward to working with them as they grow their new business. Bowman Strings can be reached through their web site at www.bowmanstrings.com.

Famous artist and sculptor Stan Watts created one life size and two miniature Jimmy Fortune statues. The large one was recently unveiled at the Nelson County Historical Society Oakland Museum. We were surprised and honored when Jimmy sent one of the small ones for us to display in our museum. The statue is so detailed you can see the guitar strings and the guitar pic in Jimmy's hand. One of Watts' famous pieces entitled "To Lift a Nation" taken from a photo of New York City's firefighters raising a flag over the collapse world trade center.

Peggy , Phil and I arrived early at the museum this morning. We were there to meet Mrs. Fry from Kansas, Missouri. Mrs. Fry had emailed me to let me know she would be donating her mother’s Edison phonograph to the museum. She said she would bring it to the museum on Labor Day. We were pleasantly surprised to see the Edison home phonograph and the matching stand in such excellent original condition. It came with two horns and quite a collection of cylinder records. We want to thank Mrs. Fry and her daughter for bringing them. We also want to thank Mrs. Frys’s mother Marjorie Stowell for her donation.

We have been working with Omar, a high school friend of David Williams, and the Williams family for years.
Omar made us aware of David's music history and wanted us to induct him into the Virginia Music Hall of Fame. David was Michael Jackson's lead guitarist for over 20 years and so much more. Today we were so pleased to meet David’s sister Delores and his nephew Mareo. They came by to see the museum and to bring some items from Omar regarding David. We enjoyed talking with Delores and Mareo and are excited about inducting David into the music hall of fame this year.
