My first novel is officially out!
Blood Amber: Fossils, Fortunes, and Survival is an international thriller that blends the story behind the Poozeum with the obsession, greed, and danger surrounding the world’s rarest prehistoric treasures.
Real events and experiences are woven throughout the novel, blurring the boundary between fact and fiction.
A special thank you to award-winning Burmese photojournalist , who shared his firsthand knowledge of the Kachin amber mines with me and licensed one of his photographs for the book’s cover.

🦕 Random Fossil Nerd Stuff Alert:
Long before New York’s American Museum of Natural History, P.T. Barnum was already using fossils to draw crowds to his American Museum on Broadway in New York City. This rare mid-1800s token even advertises “fossils” among its hundreds of thousands of curiosities.
I haven’t found any record of Barnum displaying fossilized turds, but I think he would’ve loved them. 🦖 💩
Admission back then was 25 cents. (That’s still 25 cents more than the Poozeum charges today.)
Isn’t it time to visit the only museum in the world dedicated to fossilized turds? Come see the Poozeum in Williams, Arizona. Then check out the Grand Canyon too. I hear it’s almost as interesting. 😉

🦖💩🪶66-Million-Year-Old Feather Found Perfectly Preserved in Dinosaur P**p!
Scientists found an incredibly well-preserved feather inside what may be a tyrannosaur coprolite (turd) from the Hell Creek Formation. Researchers say fossil p**p may be an overlooked source for preserving delicate fossils that normally disappear.

Coprolites could be an overlooked source for discovering delicate structures that don’t typically preserve in fossil sites like the Hell Creek Formation.

🦕🦖The next stop on my dinosaur and fossil-themed road trip was Dinosaur National Monument, only about 20 minutes from Vernal, Utah!
🦴 The highlight is the Quarry Exhibit Hall, where you can see more than 1,500 dinosaur bones still embedded in the rock where they were discovered. It is essentially an entire wall packed with real fossils that you can view up close and even touch in a few places.
📸 Pictures simply don’t do this place justice. If you are anywhere near Vernal, I definitely recommend making the trip!
