CityArts will be closed for New Year's Day on Wednesday, January 1 but we will be back to business on Thursday to start 2025 off right!

What creative muscles do you want to flex in the new year? Whether you want to brush up on some skills in a specific medium with a workshop or try a new discipline, we have a class designed to help you discover your creativity.

New class sessions in many different media are starting in the next few weeks, including Pottery - All Levels, Drawing Fundamentals, Watercolor Painting, Silversmithing, Glassblowing, and more. Kid-friendly classes like Art for Tots give little ones a creative outlet during the cold season. Workshops like Introduction to Mask Making offer a project-oriented way to try something new, and there are plenty of other great classes to explore at wichita.gov/cityarts. Out doing Christmas shopping? Visit CityArts between 3-5pm, today, for a book signing of “Wichita Blues,” by Patrick O’Connor. These books make a great gift for your bibliophiles, music-heads, and local history buffs! Copies are for sale at CityArts or bring in your own copy to meet the author and personalize it with a signature from Pat!

“Wichita Blues: Music in the African American Community,” was recently released by University Press of Mississippi. This book focuses on the legacy of blues music in Wichita with 19 interviews of local musicians, some of whom Pat performed with.

Books are available for purchase in the Art Shoppe.

TRASH ORCHESTRA ART CAMP November 27, 9-4pm, ages 6-15! Make an instrument with recycled materials, design a jam-session with the other campers and perform for the community in the Main Gallery at 4:00pm. No previous experience needed! $40

ART CAMP starts next week — ENROLL TODAY! For the next nine weeks, campers will explore a variety of art mediums, including weekly glass blowing demos as seen here. Camp runs 9:00-4:00pm and is great for youth ages 6-12. We are a licensed childcare facility through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, we accept payments through the Department for Children and Families, and scholarships are available. METALSMITHING BASICS: This one-day workshop is geared for the absolute beginner! Learn about different metals, tools and equipment in the studio, stamping and cutting techniques and more. Welcome to CityArts

CityArts is a community arts center located in historic Old Town dedicated to providing education and artistic opportunities for Wichita residents. We offer art classes and workshops for all ages, family events and four gallery exhibition spaces.

We are proud to be home to more than 35 professional artists who teach art to the community. Each session, these artists engage with students who learn how to create pieces of art in a supportive community setting. Classes are offered in digital arts, photography, fiber, silversmithing, glass fusing, glass blowing, painting, pottery and drawing.

Located in a three-story building in Wichita's historic Old Town district, the facility was designed specifically to meet the needs of a community arts center in Wichita. CityArts provides year-round art classes, the CityArts Boutique and four gallery spaces that display a new exhibition each month. CityArts is owned by the City of Wichita and is managed by the Arts and Cultural Services Division within the City Manager's Office.
