SEEKING EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHERS - EMERGE 2026 - INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION & EXHIBITION - ENTRY DEADLINE EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 15

Several talented photographers have submitted their photographic work to the Emerge competition by the deadline last night. It has been refreshing to see fine photographs from these new artists. We are still seeking a few more photographers to join in the exhibition, therefore, we are allowing another couple of weeks for photographers to send in their photographs.

We feel strongly about providing this exhibition opportunity to emerging photographers. The Midwest Center for Photography was created to provide opportunities specifically for photographers who are just starting out and excited to become artists. When accepted into that first gallery exhibition the experience is beyond exciting. To have your work accepted to galleries and exhibitions at a consistent basis at the beginning of an artists career is a sign that their work and talent is getting recognized and that experience is extremely rewarding. To all of you educators out there who have recognized exceptional talent amongst your students, please share this opportunity.

We will be giving one $200 Emerge Fellowship Award and exhibition opportunities to emerging photographers. This fellowship opportunity is geared toward photographers looking to launch their art careers through the exposure of exhibition.

$200 Emerge Award and 1 year artist representation by MWCP online.

Exhibition Dates: October 2 - 26, 2026.

NEW CALL FOR ENTRY - PURPLE - INTERNATIONAL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION - ENTRY DEADLINE - DECEMBER 31

Open to all photographers internationally.

Next up in our color exhibition series comes the color purple, the complement to our last exhibition in the series featuring the color yellow. Purple can range from the dark and richness of the deep chroma of grape, plum and mulberry, to violet and mauve, to the light and airy qualities of lavender, wisteria, and lilac. Lying on the color spectrum somewhere between blue and red, purple is the hue most thought of to identify royalty, elicit passion, or bring the idea of the softness of femininity. Whether it's the color of your favorite sweater, a blueberry smoothie, a rich glass of burgandy, or the range of colors found in the sky with the sun setting on the horizon, purple can be found in a vast array of places. We are seeking photographs that represent the hue through a wide range of subjects focusing on the color of purple; straight forward approaches to the tints, tones and shades of the brilliant color are desired, the Purple exhibition will feature various approaches to the concept and color of purple.

Entries will be considered upon individual images submitted by each artist. Selected artists will have their work featured in the gallery and online.
