On September 4, 1957, nine African American students arrived for the first day of school at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Upon arrival, Governor Faubus prevented the nine students from entering Central High with the use of the Arkansas National Guard. This would mark the beginning of the Little Rock Crisis, and ultimately lead to President Dwight D. Eisenhower's intervention, making this a monumental event in Civil Rights history.
