Packets of small documentary photographs (identified neatly by location), the Buick Touring Book dated 1920, the record book for their travels in a 1937 Buick, paint brushes, and a leather binder book with notes and drawings of tree and floral specimens - all preparatory materials for Mary Agnes Yerkes when painting in her home studio.

Metamorphosis, 2011 by Betsy Youngquist and R. Scott Long. The entire creation of this piece was chronicled on social media as a digital diary. You can now see how it was made on our digital slide show as well as gawk at how beautiful it is - its in the museum's gallery here at Rend Lake! The bead work is out of this world!

Our new exhibit - Everything In Place - sketches, journals, preparations - is being installed in the gallery. The exhibit focuses on the preparatory materials kept "at hand" which both inspire and document the creative process. Everything In Place is curated by Jennifer Jaskowiak.
