Saturday’s Sock Hop has a few more things up its rolled sleeves:

A little swing, a little friendly competition, and a scoop between songs? That’s a Saturday with potential.

Those saddle shoes deserve another night out.

Take a little inspiration from the 1950s as you get ready for our 2nd Annual Sock Hop. Think rolled jeans, a favorite scarf, or a skirt made for the dance floor.

Then call your friends and make a plan for Saturday, October 17. We’ll be at the Whitefish Moose Lodge from 7–10 PM, with basic East Coast Swing instruction beginning at 6:30 PM.

Expect dancing, contests, prizes, and plenty of hometown company.

What does the Whitefish Depot bring to mind for you?

Our Sock Hop is a chance to celebrate the hometown history we share while making a few new memories together. Join us Saturday, October 17, at the Whitefish Moose Lodge for an evening fundraiser to replace the depot's roof.

Every $25 ticket includes an “I Love My Depot” event button.

Dancing runs from 7–10 PM, with basic East Coast Swing instruction at 6:30 PM. Ages 16–99.

Our 2nd Annual Sock Hop is Saturday, October 17, and you’re invited to help us “Raise the Roof!” Gather your friends for an evening of dancing, fun contests, great prizes, and a silent auction, with proceeds going to replacing the roof of our beloved depot.

Join us at the Whitefish Moose Lodge from 7–10 PM, or come at 6:30 PM to learn a few basic East Coast Swing steps.

Look at these beautiful postcards from 1944! 😍😱
How do we KNOW they are from 1944? Well, we could look at the pictures for context clues- the cars, the businesses on Central, the lack of ski runs cut into the Big… but the truth is so much easier.

These postcards were printed by Curt Teich & Co, and usually stamped “Curteich-Chicago," who started printing postcards in the early 1900s(!) . On the front of the postcard we can see a handy little production number, 4B-H490. In this case, the B means the cards were printed in the 1940s, the “4” indicates the exact year: 1944, the H is a custom order number, and 490 is the sequence number for the image— so clearly, as 490 and 491, these cards were ordered and printed in sequence together.
