We sadly announce the passing of Patty Hancock, lifetime member of the Wheeling Historical Society, who died on April 1, 2019. Patty and her late husband, Wedge, contributed their time and talent for many years. Patty attended the School of the Art Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts and the Society benefited from her artistic abilities in the décor of our annual Lollipop Lane and window restoration of Childerley Chapel on McHenry Rd. She also designed the logo for the Wheeling Historical Society. We will miss her dedication but her creativity will be appreciated for years to come.

Here is an original story about Villa Venice on Milwaukee Avenue. click on the lnk for the sad ending.
Are you still open 2-4 on Sundays? Thanks!!
Does anyone remember a car dealership called Carston Motors at 439 N Wolf Road? We ran into a man who bought a Triumph from there is 1963. My husband is from Wheeling but can't remember a Car Dealership at that location.
Today, I visited with and brought flowers to Salome Sigwalt Periolat (1806-1869), my great, great, great grandmother. She’s at the Wheeling Cemetery with many of the Periolat family. Napoleon Periolat was her second husband. Her daughter Louisa Maria Sigwalt Nickell was my great x2 grandmother. I’d love to see early photos of Louisa Maria, photos of the brewery, and any other info related to my ancestors. I believe George Periolat had many photos.
