KATHRYN LARSON - Kathryn has been in the jewelry industry for over 30 years either creating her own line or selling for others. Kathryn started making jewelry in 1973 but her private year long apprenticeship with a master platinumsmith in the early 80's gave her finer
abilities in her craft. Kathryn founded Many Hands in 2010 which began as a jewelry arts school. She taught beginning - advanced silver and goldsmithing. Kathryn closed the school in July 2014 and is now collaborating with other jewelry artists from Many Hands. We are each creating our own unique collections which can be found on our websites, Ebay, Etsy and Local Art shows. Kathryn also formed K2 (ksquared) with artist Kathy Thompson. KATHY THOMPSON – Kathy Thompson has a BFA in Fine Art from Miami University in Oxford Ohio and a Masters in Special Education from the University of Cincinnati. As an artist she works in many mediums, including oils, acrylics, wood, stone and metals. Kathy's jewelry often has a folk art flair and is very tactile and earthy. Kathy loves to mix metals and experiment with different “found” elements often using resin as an accent. She always creates layers of textures. Her jewelry is definitely wearable art. Kathryn and Kathy created the K2 (K squared) line together. Founded in 2014 they create fine art chandeliers & home accessories. Each leaf, coil, wire, tube and chain link are fabricated by hand and soldered individually. All creations are one-of-a-kind and numbered. DONNA DETRICK- Donna has a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education and Plant and Soil Science and a Master’s degree in Adult Education. She currently teaches high school Biology. Donnas’ first venture into jewelry fabrication was in college, but she didn’t return to her art for more than 25 years when she started upcycling with old and neglected jewelry she had acquired from friends and relatives. Creating new and unique designs out of the dated pieces was in keeping with her interests in conservation and preservation. Since joining Many Hands, Donna has continued repurposing beads of all kinds and is now working with metals and semi-precious stones for original creations. Donnas’ designs are refined and often have a botanical nuance. Her patience, perfection and a high skill level gives her pieces added details that result in simple but very sophisticated jewelry and accessories. GRACE DYCK - Grace Dyck was raised in rural Oregon and spent most of her childhood outdoors, climbing trees, picking flowers and just generally reveling in the beauty of creation. She loves nature and finds inspiration in the patterns in everything from tree bark to sea shells. Grace’s jewelry designs are often reminiscent of these patterns, while subtly invoking spiritual themes. Grace holds a B.A. in Art and English from Portland State University. She first fell in love with metalsmithing in a high school art class. She has been drawn to the art of jewelry-making ever since the first drop of the hammer. Upon moving to the Chicago area, Grace met Kathryn Larson, CEO of Many Hands Jewelry, and was delighted to find such a supportive and talented family of fellow artisans to begin designing again. Grace lives with her husband Drew, and their two children Athanasius and Mary Grace.
