"FLOOD OF 93"
Through decades of life on the Missouri River, residents have endured the hardships brought by the ravage of floodwaters. The devastating July Flood of 1993, which destroyed homes and took lives across the Midwest, will fall into the infamous pages of history as one of the worst natural disasters of the century.

The Weston Chronicle newspaper, housed in the Weston Burley House, lost nearly all of their equipment to the flood waters. Chronicle editor Jim McPherson, front, and Van Bigham, back, brought out a few items by rowboat.

What a special night for Weston. 🇺🇸

Dr. Kurt Graham brought John Adams and Thomas Jefferson to life — not simply as Founding Fathers, but as two very real people whose friendship, disagreements and eventual reconciliation became part of the American story.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the story behind this line from Adams to Jefferson:

“You and I ought not to die before we have explained ourselves to each other.”

What a beautiful reminder that even after years of disagreement and distance, there can still be room for understanding.

We are so grateful to Dr. Graham for sharing his knowledge and stories with us — and grateful that our Weston Historical Museum can bring opportunities like this right here to our community. ❤️🇺🇸
