✨ MEET THE ARTIST: Cheryl Binder ✨

Cheryl Binder has a BFA in Fine Arts from S.U.N.Y, Stonybrook, a Masters in Art Education from S.U.N.Y New Paltz in Art Education and she taught Elementary Art for 33 years in the Poughkeepsie, NY.

Cheryl’s process enables her to create works that are evocative, tactile and atmospheric. By mixing oil paint with the cold wax medium, as well as collage; she is able to reveal various textures by scraping back layers, achieving a finish that interacts beautifully with luminous and iridescent light. This approach emphasizes discovery and spontaneity to suggest natural environments in a very organic way.

Her work is featured in Chasing Shadows, Weaving Light, on view October 1–25 at the Guild of Berkshire Artists Gallery. The gallery is open Thursday–Sunday, 11am–4pm throughout the exhibition.

✨ MEET THE ARTIST: Kathryn Feuerbach ✨

Self-taught mixed-media artist Kathryn Feuerbach has been creating art for 50 years. A Berkshire Mountains artist, Kathryn currently works with textured acrylics and collage, often incorporating the vivid colors that have always drawn her to art.

For Kathryn, bright color represents hope—a reminder that even in tumultuous and despairing times, light can still be found.

Her perspective is also informed by more than four decades as a psychiatric nurse, giving her a deep familiarity with the tension between darkness and light, and between hope and despair.

Through her art, Kathryn hopes to create a feeling of lightness and hope that resonates with others.

Her work is featured in Chasing Shadows, Weaving Light, on view October 1–25 at the Guild of Berkshire Artists Gallery. The gallery is open Thursday–Sunday, 11am–4pm throughout the exhibition.
