Take a closer look at our "Recognition of Art by Women” series ❤️

In the 15 years of "Recognition of Art by Women” ("RAW") series, we have mounted nine exhibitions on this theme. As we look forward to the 10th iteration, "Danielle Mckinney: Shelter," we have also displayed a retrospective of work from the past artists in "Recognition of Art by Women: In Retrospect.” J. Rachel Gustafson, Chief Curatorial Officer, reflects on the people who helped bring this series to life, and the incredibly varied perspectives that you’ll see in both exhibitions.

Head to our YouTube channel to see our opening weekend panel on the “RAW” series, featuring two artists whose work is on view in the retrospective, Njideka Akunyili Crosby and Svenja Deininger. Then, come to the Norton to see this stunning exhibition for yourself.

For World Oceans Day, we’re sharing Dale Chihuly’s “Persian Sealife Ceiling” 🌊🐚🪸

This mesmerizing installation brings the magic of the ocean to life right above your head. Made of almost 700 individual glass pieces, this work is one of the most beloved sites at the Norton. With detailed and delicate glass works capturing the colors and forms of the marine ecosystem, it reminds us of just how precious — and fragile — our oceans truly are.

Be sure to stand beneath this ceiling during your next visit to the Norton. It's the perfect place to reflect on the wonder of the sea, with no scuba gear required!
