This Berlin (K.P.M.) porcelain plaque, crafted in the late 19th century, captures a moment of raw intensity — a man battling lions in Ancient Rome, painted after Defregger with remarkable detail and emotion.

Known as the Royal Porcelain Manufactory, K.P.M. Berlin was celebrated for turning porcelain into fine art, often rivaling oil paintings in depth and realism. Each plaque was meticulously hand-painted and marked with the iconic sceptre seal — a symbol of quality and prestige.

Estimated at $18,000, this work is more than decorative — it’s a dramatic narrative frozen in porcelain, where history, mythology, and masterful technique converge.
