Volunteers with the newly established West Lafayette Historical Society have been working hard cataloging and designing exhibits to reopen a museum to the public for this year's 75th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 1950, Troop Train accident.
Learn why West Lafayette was known as the Enamelware Capital of the World, reflect on past homecomings, relive school days, see a screening of the "Tragedy of the 109th" Troop Train documentary, and much more at the museum, located at 316 W. Main St. ... We'll be holding an Open House on Sunday, Sept 7, from 2-7 p.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 5-7 p.m.; or Thursday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A special presentation on the Troop Train accident will be given at the museum by Jack Patterson at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7th, followed by a commemorative ceremony on Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Troop Train monument at the corner of North Kirk and East Railroad Streets.
Come, see what we've been up to as the work continues to promote and preserve the history of the West Lafayette, Ohio, area.
