Good Evening Barn Quilt Family, The rain has fallen, the thunder has roared, and some farmers are rejoicing...While others have missed the rain completely and are disappointed with the dry conditions. I have always loved the rain and today it fell with my tears. 2020 was the beginning of our drought; between COVID and my injury, Renee's illness and the economy, we have been struggling for a while now. I have tried different options but the truth is (and as my dear friend says, it is time to rip off the Band-Aid) we just aren't making it. We haven't been able to pay rent in a while, we have lost our health insurance, and even groceries are becoming a struggle. While our landlords are amazing and compassionate people, It is with indescribable sadness that we are announcing the closure of our shop in West Jefferson. This has been our happy place and my personal refuge for a long time, I am so sad right now. If you have ordered quilts from us, please don't worry, Renee and I have agreed to work at the home studio until they are complete. We may even be able to post a few to sell. I am so grateful for your support over the past years. You gave me joy, a place to share my writing and we have had the honor of meeting many of you and sharing what has become, lifelong friendships. We treasure each of you for so many reasons. The rain will come again, and even a sad day in the mountains is better than anywhere else in the world. I am asking for your good thoughts as we move on to the next chapter. I'm going to be working on my book and the amazing artists in our shop will go on to bigger and better things. I'm sending you all love, gratitude. and a prayer that you will support small businesses everywhere (even though I think West Jefferson businesses are the most amazing places ever). Even today, the mountains are calling~
