Art Studio located in West Bridgewater, MA featuring oils and watercolors by New England artist Ted Nystrom.

For over 40 years, Theodore "Ted" Nystrom has been a familiar and popular "plein air" artist who enjoys painting on location throughout New England. His well-known watercolors of famous landmarks, seascapes, and landscapes are rendered in a realistic style, using what Nystrom refers to as his "natural" palette. Nystrom's subjects reflect his belief in one's peaceful coexistence with nature. Boats,

houses, fences, and gardens are commonly found in his compositions, along with the more untamed natural elements of oceans and sky. Nystrom is a supporting member of many art organizations, such as the prestigious Copley Society, Boston, MA; a lifetime member and signature artist member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society; and a former member of organizations such as the Taunton Art Association and Scituate Art Association. His works are in private collections, both domestic and international. He accepts commissions for landscapes and house portraits. His watercolors and oil paintings may be viewed by appointment at the artist's studio in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

June ArtWalk Waldoboro features Guest Artist Theodore Nystrom at the Heywood Gallery

The Heywood Gallery, 921 Main St., Waldoboro, Maine, celebrates the Waldoboro Artwalk on Friday, June 27th by featuring the works of guest artist Theodore (Ted) Nystrom.

For over 50 years Nystrom has been painting en plein air in his native New England, Florida, and various European countries. Nystrom began his working life as a Paris-trained chef and instructor of culinary arts, painting on weekends and during summer breaks. “Painting was always my passion,” declares Nystrom. “Over 30 years ago I fell in love with the Maine coast when I visited a friend’s camp, so I had to paint it. Man’s peaceful coexistence with nature is central to my work. That is what I found in the Waldoboro area and what I want my work to communicate.”

A selection of Nystrom's Maine seascapes and landscapes will be on view for the first time in Maine on June 27th at the Heywood Gallery, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
