West Bend Parks, Recreation & Forestry team has placed three new informational kiosks along the Riverwalk, just off Riverfront Parkway at the Place of Origin, to share the city’s industrial history. The kiosks were donated by the Ziegler Family Foundation and made in collaboration with The Tower Heritage Center to ensure historical accuracy and provide insight on the significance of West Bend’s industrial history at this location.

Today we celebrate 250 years of incredible history. We celebrate a country made by the men and women who decided that freedom and the opportunity to make one's own way, was worth fighting and even dying for. America is defined by those people, and the people today still fighting for so many things. We commend those who have given their all to make this country what it is.

Join us next week to read our newest blog series: Washington County Founding Fathers. We will be diving into the stories of those first settlers who made our county into a place of industry and entrepreneurship. Our first post will focus on Barton Salisbury, the young man who saw opportunity on the river and in the woods of the town now named for him.

Have a very happy 4th!!!!! 🇺🇲❤️🤍💙🎇 (and check out the Tower tonight 😉)

In 1915, Civil War veterans honored their fallen brothers on Memorial Day. 7 years later, WWI veterans gathered at Union Cemetery in West Bend to do the same. Today, we extend our deepest appreciation to the men and women, and their families, who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Thank you for joining us in honoring their bravery and remembering their stories.
