🎃 Baby’s First Halloween at Wenham Museum!

Get ready to wiggle, giggle, and dance! Join us for a festive Halloween morning designed for little ones and their grown-ups, featuring a spook-tacular dance party with High Street Studios from 10–10:30 AM! 🕷️👻

Dance to festive tunes, creep like spiders, float like ghosts, and show off your best monster moves! Costumes are encouraged, and no dance experience is needed.

Enjoy even more Halloween fun with sensory play, hands-on crafts, family costume photos, a costume parade, and interactive exhibits!

Activity fee covers Halloween activities only. Museum admission is separate.

TODAY is an early release day for Hamilton-Wenham schools! Looking for something fun to do this afternoon? Come get into the fall spirit at Wenham Museum! 🎃🍁

This Week at Wenham Museum!

Looking for something fun to do on the North Shore this week? Join us for hands-on history, creative activities for kids, and a special Friday lecture and historic house tour!
Wednesday, October 14: Kids can explore stereoscopes and discover how people viewed images in 3D!

Thursday, October 15: Learn about colonial clothing and try your hand at wool carding during our kid-friendly Morning Drop-In program.

Friday, October 16: Kids can create their own musical instruments using upcycled materials! Then, join us at noon for First Period Houses: Architecture of the North Shore with Ipswich Town Historian Gordon Harris, followed by a tour of our historic 1662 Claflin-Gerrish-Richards House.

🕙 Morning Drop-Ins are designed for children and take place at 10 AM, Wednesday through Friday. Friday’s adult lecture begins at noon and is included with general museum admission.

What a wonderful evening celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Wenham Museum! 🇪🇸🇲🇽🇵🇷✨ From the vibrant dancing of Cultura Latina to delicious flavors, Storytimes, and hands-on activities, our Free First Wednesday was filled with culture, community, and fun for the whole family!

A huge thank-you to Cultura Latina, La Qchara, and everyone who joined us to make this evening so special. We loved celebrating the richness and diversity of Hispanic heritage with our North Shore community! 💃

🍂 Mark your calendars! Our next Free First Wednesday is November 4, as we recognize Native American Heritage Month. Join us for another evening of community, discovery, and family fun at Wenham Museum!

🏠 What’s hiding upstairs at Wenham Museum?

Step inside the historic Claflin-Gerrish-Richards House, built in 1662, and discover the architecture of one of the North Shore’s earliest surviving homes!

Join us Friday, October 16, for First Period Houses: Architecture of the North Shore with Ipswich Town Historian Gordon Harris. The program begins with a short lecture exploring the distinctive features of First Period architecture, followed by a guided tour of the Claflin-Gerrish-Richards House—including access to the second floor!

🔨 See early New England craftsmanship up close, including:
• Exposed post-and-beam framing
• Large chamfered summer beams
• Massive central fireplaces
• Fine paneling
• And other architectural details that reveal how early New England homes were built and lived in.

The house also has a fascinating connection to the broader history of the North Shore. Once part of Salem, Wenham’s Claflin-Gerrish-Richards House later became the site of a meeting that helped bring the Salem Witch Trials to an end.

With his background as a carpenter and more than a decade as Ipswich Town Historian, Gordon Harris brings a unique perspective to the craftsmanship and construction of Essex County’s earliest homes.

Celebrating Random Acts of Poetry Day!

Random Acts of Poetry Day is celebrated each year on October 7th, so today we're sharing a little poetry from the Wenham Museum collection! 📜

This charming poem, dated April 5, 1928, celebrates the ladies of the Wenham Tea House, who gathered every Wednesday to hook rugs, enjoy each other's company, and, of course, stop for a bowl of delicious chowder made by Harriet Hobbs. 🥣

Nearly 100 years later, this poem gives us a fun glimpse into everyday community life in Wenham—and a reminder that good food and good company never go out of style! Wenham Tea House was founded by the Wenham Village Improvement Society (WVIS) in 1912.

The Wenham Tea House is right across the street from Wenham Museum, so why not make a day of it? ☕️

Visit the Tea House for lunch or a treat, then cross the street to explore the Museum—or visit us first and head over afterward! Two historic Wenham destinations, just steps apart!

Come celebrate with us! ¡Celebra con nosotros! 🇪🇸🇲🇽🇵🇷

Join us at Wenham Museum on Wednesday, October 7, from 4:00–6:00 PM for our monthly Free First Wednesday, as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with an evening of family-friendly activities, music, food, storytelling, and hands-on opportunities to explore the rich traditions and diverse cultures of Hispanic and Latino communities.

🌮 Taste the Culture: Sample food from La Qchara in Beverly, MA.

💃 Dance with Us: Enjoy a fun, family-friendly dance class hosted by Cultura Latina of Lynn, MA.

📚 Storytime: Join us for storytime at 4:30 PM and 5:15 PM.

🌶️ Smell the Spice: Put your senses to the test! Explore the flavors, foods, and traditions of Latin America and Spain. Can you guess the spice?

🚂 Explore the Museum: While you’re here, discover our model train gallery, vintage toy collections, and hands-on history exhibits throughout the museum.
