Whether you're competing or cheering from the sidelines, this is a fun-filled tradition the whole family can enjoy. Come hungry, bring your friends and family, and see who earns bragging rights as this year's watermelon eating champion!

Make plans to spend the day at Kiwanis Park, where there will be activities, food, vendors, and entertainment happening throughout the day as we celebrate our community.

Small Town, Big Freedom: Celebrating America's 250th Anniversary
Join us on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Kiwanis Ballpark in Wellsville, Missouri, for a day of community, family fun, and patriotic celebration as we honor America's 250th Anniversary with our Small Town, Big Freedom event!
The celebration begins with a Co-Ed Softball Tournament hosted by the Wellsville Community Athletic League, bringing teams and spectators together for a day of friendly competition and hometown spirit.
Throughout the day, families can enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment, including:
β€’ E&H Family Bounce Rentals – 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
β€’ Dunk Tank – 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
β€’ Water Balloon Splash Down – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM
β€’ Watermelon Eating Contest – 3:00 PM
β€’ Spin Art – 4:00 PM
β€’ Kids Games – 4:30 PM
β€’The Sugar Shack
β€’ Joe’s Funnel Cakes
β€’ HoneyLou's Snacks

As part of the celebration, a complimentary meal consisting of a hot dog, chips, and bottled water will be available to attendees. In honor of America's 250th Anniversary, 250 free meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Be sure to stay throughout the day, as attendance prizes will be given away at various times during the celebration, providing even more opportunities for fun and excitement for attendees of all ages.
As the day winds down, gather with friends, family, and neighbors for a special Flag Ceremony at 8:30 PM, honoring our nation's history, freedoms, and the community spirit that makes small-town America so special.
Bring your lawn chairs, gather your family and friends, and spend the day celebrating freedom, community, and small-town pride.
