Are you ready for some football, fall of 1946 edition? Among our files at Old Brutus Historical Society, we have a large collection of Weedsport High School sports teams’ photos. Today, we present the 1946 football team. This team went undefeated; running the football undefeated streak to five consecutive years!

This picture was in the 1947 Sparks yearbook, so I believe the date on the photo was incorrect. I also have found the names of the two missing names: Head number 16 is C. Higgins and Head number 23 is M. Johnson. Please let us know if there are any other corrections.

I’m sure many of our readers will know several of these players. Old Brutus thanks you for all the “likes” and “follows” of our previous posts!

Here is an interesting photo we have at Old Brutus Historical Society. The photo was taken in 1951; it looks like a lot of people were shopping downtown!! How many of these places do you remember???

A huge “thank you” to all of our friends who attended our latest presentation: “The Golden Age of Railroads in Cayuga County” at Old Brutus Historical Society. Mr. Robert Kolsters gave a very well researched program which included a slide show and video clips. We actually needed to use our extra video screen to host the 55 people in attendance!

Our next presentation looks to be another interesting one. Historian Christopher Carosa will discuss, “Western New York, a State? Why not?” A reminder that the next program will be on a special date of Tuesday, September 22nd.

We hope you make plans to attend! As always, free admission and refreshments!!
