Lots of our customers come in looking to get off coffee. If ever there was a coffee placebo to be found in a tea shop, Chicoriccino (that’s chick-o-ree-chee-no) is it. This chickory-based, caffeine free tea smells a little like a graham cracker as it brews, but it has that roasty-toasty, slightly bitter flavor that scratches the coffee itch without the sensation that you’re suddenly going very fast. It’s mild and smooth, and I like it, even though I’m obviously not much of a coffee drinker.

The one category of teas in our shop that doesn’t re-steep beautifully is the hibiscus teas. Their beautiful red color sadly exhausts on the first steep. But with everything else? Two steeps is standard before we compost the spent leaves. Some of the nicer Chinese teas hold up well past the fifth steep when using the GongFu brewing method!

And guess what: they’re all great ways to buy tea you’ll love! Keeping a variety of quantities lets us meet all our customers where they’re at, whether they’ve only had badly brewed Lipton or if they’re practically sommeliers at this point. And if you don’t want to brew it yourself, we are always happy to brew up anything in the shop just the way you like it 😉
