It's time to remind everyone that I also am a photographer. ;-) As a member of the Valley Arts Association in Hagerstown, I have the opportunity to show my 2D work at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. Sometimes, re-firing something is exactly the right thing. The pot on the left was fired a few years ago, and I wasn't happy with the way the glaze turned out (the black streaks especially). With my NEW kiln, I fired the piece to a solid cone 6 (no new glaze, no other changes.) Hmmm. Looks different, huh?

Last night's opening reception was inspirational. So many wonderful pieces on display. The red dots were flying fast (indicating someone bought the work!) I made lots of new connections, and visited with great friends and family. The Strictly Functional Pottery National runs through the end of October. Be sure to get to the Lancaster Museum of Art.

TOMORROW (9/18): The Strictly Functional Pottery National opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lancaster Museum of Art. I plan to be there until 7 p.m., so be sure to come out early to see the awesome pottery and say 'Hi."

Come see this set in person! The Strictly Functional Pottery National exhibit opening reception is Friday, Sept. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Lancaster Museum of Art (Demuth Museum) on Lime Street in Lancaster. I'll be there shaking hands. ;-) The exhibit runs from Sept. 19 to October 31.

My latest slab-constructed piece. This is a prototype for a box a friend asked me to make. It's 20" long so moving it around when still "floppy" was quite the challenge. I used a method learned in my Suze Lindsay workshop last fall to make the lid.

Last chance to see my work in the Maryland Federation of Art's "Off the Wall" show at Maryland Hall in Annapolis. The closing reception is this Saturday, August 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Come out and say "hi" and see all the work!
