NYO&W Wawarsing Station

NYO&W Wawarsing Station The NYO&W ran from Summitville to Kingston, NY until it ceased operations on March 29, 1957.

The Wawarsing Station was 104.38 miles to New York and 23.78 to Kingston. This station has not been changed since the railroad closed down in 1957. It is our dream to restore the station to the way it was originally built. This station was the life blood of Wawarsing delivering passengers who frequented the local hospitality business as well as providing small package delivery through Adams Expres

s. Rehabilitation work included repairs to the exterior stucco, restoration of the original doors and windows, refinishing of concrete floors, installation of the original heating system, painting and landscaping.

Repair in Place or shut down the tunnels. Thoughts?

Ninety feet below the East River, Amtrak’s 110 year-old train tunnels are slowly filling with salty water dripping on high-voltage cables as steel is nearly corroded to dust.

BY repairing in place, costs and time will double for the Hudson River Tunnels. Who will pay for the delay?

Congestion pricing, while aimed at reducing traffic and generating revenue, can have adverse effects when paired with inefficiencies and waste within the MTA:

Congestion pricing is often marketed as a way to fund transit improvements. However, the MTA's history of financial mismanagement, including high debt levels and wasteful spending, can lead to skepticism about whether the funds will be used effectively.

If exemptions are granted to certain groups, such as municipal workers, the tolls for others may rise significantly to compensate for lost revenue. This could disproportionately affect lower-income drivers.

Congestion pricing's dual purpose—to manage traffic and fund the MTA—can dilute its effectiveness as a traffic management tool. Critics argue that the focus on revenue generation undermines its primary goal.

Requirements for minority and disadvantaged business contracting can drive up costs without necessarily improving efficiency, further straining resources.

Congestion pricing's dual purpose—to manage traffic and fund the MTA—can be addressed. Do you see the MTA's Capital Plan address these challenges and highlight the importance of addressing systemic inefficiencies within the MTA to ensure that congestion pricing achieves its intended goals.
