About the Bremer County Historical Society: The BCHS aims to preserve and promote interest in, and knowledge of, the links between Bremer County's past, its present and the future. The society is all about tracing the trail of people, events and artifacts that brought us--literally and figuratively--to where we are today.

Bremer and Black Hawk Counties Youth Historical Society and a local WSR student have interviewed Veterans this spring at Bremer County Historical Society Museum and Janesville Public Library, Iowa to archive an important part of our history. They will continue to interview Veterans interested in sharing their story. If you have a student who would like to be involved, please let us know.
Youth Historians worked together to create an audio exhibit at our Bremer County Historical Society Museum. Please come through and see it in person this summer.

Last Sunday, Bremer County Historical Society, hosted this year's first "Cruising Thru History." Everyone enjoyed a beautiful day at Marble Rock exploring nine different historical buildings. If you missed this one, don't worry, we have our next cruise planned on July 27th, to celebrate Janesville's 175th anniversary. Stay tuned for more details.

Local high school student Ava Murphy has been working this spring to raise funds to restore the Albrecht Wing. She put together a mini-documentary with Garry Brandenburg, a native of Bremer County. She hopes to raise the funds needed to create a community space showcasing C.J. Albrecht's adventures.

Bremer County Historical Society has an URGENT request!
Last week it was discovered after the heavy rains that there was an unexpected leak in the roof of the Albrecht Wing jeopardizing irreplaceable artifacts. With the help of Waverly Troop 90's troop leader and Eagle Scouts, they helped us quickly move into action and get pieces out of the way.
Bremer County Historical Society volunteers have been working hard to get everything salvaged and roofing quotes this week. With impending rains in the forecast, we are looking for help to get an emergency patch on the roof so we can organize funding for something permanent.

Yesterday, a local teen met with Garry Brandenburg, a Bremer County native, to create a documentary presentation and brainstorm steps to reviving the Albrecht Wing.
