Bremer County Historical Society Update
What a wonderful and busy October it has been at the Bremer County Historical Society! We have been enjoying a month filled with community events, history, and exciting programs, with even more to come!
Wartburg Homecoming & Community Fun
A huge thank you to our amazing parade volunteers who represented the Bremer County Historical Society while riding in our beloved "Old Blue" during the Wartburg Homecoming Parade!
We also teamed up with the Ira Sturdevant House Museum for a booth and enjoyed a wonderful day connecting with the community, sharing local history, and visiting with familiar faces and new friends!
One of our most popular items at the Renaissance Fair was our adorable Boo Buddies!
These little ghosts are more than just cute companions. Each one is inspired by a real historical person whose story is featured at the Bremer County Museum!
For just $5, you can adopt your very own "ghost" and help support the museum's operational costs. Your donation helps us keep the lights on, artifacts preserved, and our doors open for educational programs and community activities throughout the year, beyond our regular May through October museum season.

Cemetery Night Walk Is Just One Week Away!
Our second annual Cemetery Night Walk, Generations of Service, is almost here!
Join the Bremer County Historical Society and Ira Sturdevant House Museum as we bring history to life through the heroic stories of Bremer County veterans and their families. Discover the sacrifices, courage, and experiences of those who faced war and the loved ones who stood beside them.

Living Like Laura with the Girl Scouts!
This week, we are excited to welcome local Girl Scouts for a special Living Like Laura program!
Laura Ingalls Wilder's story will come to life as the girls explore what everyday life was like for pioneer families. Through the museum's historical artifacts, they will discover how families lived, worked, learned, and entertained themselves during Laura's childhood.
After exploring the museum, the girls will head to the Ira Sturdevant House for hands-on pioneer cooking and traditional games, giving them an opportunity to experience a little of what life was like more than a century ago!
We love creating opportunities for young people to connect with history in memorable, hands-on ways!
Homeschool History Detectives: Escape Room!
Later this month, we will also be welcoming our homeschool students back for another exciting History Detectives adventure!
This month's program, Bremer County Adventures Escape Room, will challenge students to put their history knowledge, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to the test as they uncover clues and solve puzzles inspired by our county's past.
Who says learning history can't be an adventure?

October isn't over yet, and we are already looking forward to a wonderful November filled with special programs and opportunities to explore local history.
