This program is free to the public. No registration is required - just show up ready to create!

Join us at the CVA for our once-a-Month Family Day, a free creative workshop held on the third Saturday of every month from 10:00am-noon. These drop-in sessions are a great way for all ages to experience art-making together. Each month, we offer a new project inspired by our current gallery exhibits.

For these special days, our galleries open early so you can enjoy the art that inspired your project. After you've finished creating, grab a scavenger hunt sheet and explore the galleries together! Or stop by our self-serve 'Zine station to make your own 8-page 'Zine. It's the perfect way to make new discoveries and have fun as a family.

Artists, Curators, and Groups interested in submitting must fill out a digital proposal form to be considered for an exhibition. We currently accept show proposals from artists living in 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗮, 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻, 𝗜𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗼𝘄𝗮. Submissions with addresses outside of these geographical areas will not be reviewed. The CVA Shop has a great collection of items to add art in your everyday life, like chainsaw artist, Scott Bargender’s wood carved mushrooms! We have a great assortment of sizes so you can collect the perfect arrangement for your house or cabin decor. You can find these mushrooms and so much more at the CVA Shop during regular gallery hours.

Huge news! The Center for the Visual Arts has been awarded a $28,333.00 Impact Grant from Impact100 Greater Wausau to support our Art-To-Go mobile arts initiative!

This funding goes straight toward the specialized art supplies, adaptive equipment and tailored educators (including bilingual facilitators) needed to bring high-quality art experiences directly into schools, care facilities and local neighborhoods within Marathon County.

Many people don't know that Wisconsin currently ranks 48th in the nation for public arts funding, allocating just $0.20 per person. The CVA relies almost entirely on community support to keep our programming running. Impact100 Greater Wausau is helping us bridge that gap!

We are deeply grateful to Impact100 Greater Wausau for championing community art and believing in our mission. By meeting individuals exactly where they are, we do more than just spark creativity, we actively build a more connected, vibrant and resilient community together!

𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝘄: 𝗪𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗮𝘂 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗥𝗔𝗣
In the Caroline S. Mark Gallery, the WRAP-Teen exhibit features artists ages 13-19. The Teen WRAP program gives students an opportunity to exhibit their work in both Regional and State exhibits. The program's goal is to encourage young artists to create and to be recognized for their work. This year's Wausau Region exhibit features over 40 2D and 3D pieces from 8 different schools.

𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 & 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 is a bi-monthly event at the CVA where professional and emerging artists connect, share creative work, and receive feedback in a supportive community. Each evening begins with a guest artist who sets the tone for discussion, followed by an opportunity for attendees to present finished pieces or works in progress. Artists across disciplines–including painting, fiber arts, ceramics, tattooing, graphic design, film, and more–are invited to participate. Whether showcasing work or not, attendees are welcome to join thoughtful dialogue, reflect on their practice, and build relationships within our local visual arts community.

Stop by the Center for the Visual Art's booth at Family Pride tomorrow at the 400 Block and design your own slap bracelets! We'll be there from 11:30am - 2:00pm. When you're finished, take a moment out of the heat to stop by our gallery space right across the street! 🌈
