There was a great turn out at the Taos Fall Arts Festival last Friday. I was honored to be there with my painting "Crossing the Jornada."

On my recent visit to Taos this past week, I finally visited the Fechin House. Home of Nicolai Fechin, a Russian artist who lived in Taos during the early part of the 1900s. His home was very interesting, and full of incredible woodwork that the artist hand tooled himself. From doors, to wood accents and furniture. It is all beautifully crafted. There is also a gallery, with a revolving display of early 1900s paintings. There are so many gorgeous paintings in their collection. So inspiring! I especially loved the one of the burro walking past the Saint Francis de Asís mission church in Taos, by the artist Robert Daughters. I had planned to paint burros passing this church, so this is going to be my inspiration. 🥰

"Early start on the Old Spanish Trail." 22" X 28". The last of my 3 trails paintings, for now. This one is set on the OST somewhere near Abiquiu. I really do admire those artists who can paint those striped cliffs and make them look beautiful and magestic, (Georgia O'Keefe included.) Any time I try it, they look like candy cane. Oh well, you can't have Abiquiu without the multi-colored cliffs.

"More Gringos coming in." 22 X 28. This is the second painting in my 3 trails series, (the first one being the "Jornada del Mu**to" painting, set on the Camino Real.) This one features the Santa Fe Trail. Inspired by my recent climb of Starvation Peak, at Bernal. I am still tweaking this one, an endless process that can be maddening! 😄

I am still really enjoying painting donkeys, so I will keep at it. I have a few more ideas to work on this summer 😊🫏
