Paul Revere Marker in Watertown
In front of the apartment complex at 20 Watertown St. is a monument erected in 1902 by the Historical Society of Watertown. The front says, “Site of the Paul Revere House”. The other side says, “Paul Revere in a house standing on this lot made the Colonial Notes ordered by the Provincial Congress of 1775”. In May of 1775, Paul Revere directed his wife, Rachel, to quickly pack up what she could, including some of his copper engraving plates, and move herself and six children from Boston to Watertown. Paul joined her here. They lived in John Cooke’s house, along with other Boston boarders, for almost a year. Paul Revere engraved plates that were used to print Colony currency notes.
