⭐️ Taking an initiative with barely a heartbeat and developing in into a community attribute (this is regarding another organization).

⭐️ I agree with Andrew, the park-like setting, and the ability of the community to preserve such important landmarks for such a long period of time.
8)Why is it important to preserve this historical site?
⭐️ That is a very long answer in my head; cliff notes: Waterloo is so lucky to have such impressive historical sites preserved for current and future generations. It shows us where we came from and how much has developed since the beginning.
9) Who Inspires you?
⭐️ The historical society of Boone County, Warren Buffett, Samuel Clemens
10) What is something that people would be surprised to find out about you?
⭐️ I have jumped out of perfectly fine airplanes, I am a 5th Great Granddaughter of Captain James Moore

⭐️ Welllll, I live in St. Charles and have lived in St. Louis most of my life, I just found out two years ago that I was a descendant of the leader of the first American settlement (Bellefontaine) in Illinois. Needless to say, I am invested.😉

Moore to the story: This item was found recently, by our neighbor, David after some construction and turning up of the grounds. It relates to former property owners. Why is Shorty's the perfect fit for this challenge? Enoch Moore and his son built the first business where Shorty's Smokehouse now stands.

THANK YOU- Andrew Juelfs for the beautiful donation to the Bellefontaine House.

This is a mid-19th C. Seth Thomas Column Triple Decker Mantle Clock. Made in Plymouth Hollow, Connecticut between 1840 and 1860. This particular clock was located at the Columbia Quarry office. This clock features a reverse-painted glass panel and has brass movements. The movements were typically weighted to run for eight days. (More details in comments)

All of our wonderful pieces at the house have been generously donated (or on loan) to the museum. If you want to see this wonderful clock in person, stop by on Sunday, we are open from 1p-4p.

A big THANK YOU to George and Michael for clearing all of the limbs from our recent storms. When you have huge trees on the property, that equals monster fallen limbs after high winds. I think one of them was the size of our car! Volunteers are what keeps Bellefontaine House going.❤️🏡
