Texier House Museum wants to share our excitement in learning about the past, particularly Watchung area's past.
General Washington's army spent 1/4 of the Revolutionary War in NJ and fought many important battle here. His army encamped at Middlebrook - right below Washington Rock Park twice. And his 5 generals lived in Somerset county homes.
The Heritage Trail has a 3 hour bus tour of those 5 homes each year. The Feb 22 tour was 'snow-stormed out" and has been rescheduled for March 22 . Some ticket are sold out, but tickets are available for the but are available for the 12:30, 1:30, $2:30 departure ($40 Adult, $20 under 18

Watchung is celebrating its 100the year as a borough and our nation celebrates its 250.
Somerset County was the stage for the early years of the Revolutionary war. Here is a fun way to immerse yourself in the our exiting history.

The Texier House Museum will be closed today due to the snow we have received, as well as the additional snow expected this afternoon. We hope to see you at our next scheduled Open House on February 1st, 2pm to 4pm.

2026 is going to be a big year for Watchung because it’s our 100th year as a borough. Our beautiful land with its brooks and hills has been here before recorded history years. Texier House Museum tells the history. We will be opening the first and third Saturday of the month. Come for our Centennial opening day Jan 4.

Watchung held to a parade celebrate the 50th. Do you have ideas for celebrating our 100th?
The Museum welcomes visitors the first and third Saturday of the month. Come for our Centennial opening day Jan 4.

The Texier House Museum open the 1st & 3rd Sunday of most months shows the history of the people who lived here
The Community Birthday calendar was probably posted on most kitchen walls so people could learn when meetings were - there was a lot going on then (as now :
the Recreation committee on July 2 and the Board of Health on the 3rd, Rescue Squad Drill, Traffic & Beautification and Planning Board on July 8
etc.
and birthdays and anniversaries of borough folk
Each calendar had a historical building - this one was the old Mill which is located when the Municipal building is now
