For old and young, we're tons of fun! The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum began in 1954 with three trolleys and a dream. Today, that dream is a reality. We now display a collection of nearly 50 cars with over a dozen in operating order, have over 150 regular volunteers, and receive over 30,000 visitors each year. With your support, we can continue to fulfill our mission to keep the Trolley Era alive for generations to come. More than a ride... it's an experience!

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum once again operated our annual Park ‘N’ Ride services during the 2026 Washington County Fair earlier this month!

Riders could park at one of three parking lots, hop aboard the trolley, and enjoy a relaxing ride to the Fair. Any tickets purchased during the Fair also included admission to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, thanks to M&T Bank's support and sponsorship.

Thank you to all of our riders and visitors this year, as well as to all the staff and volunteers who make this annual service possible!

: Pittsburgh Railways Co. 1711 became the last streetcar to carry regular passengers from Washington to Pittsburgh early on the morning of August 30, 1953.

This historical connection between 1711 and Washington is actually the reason we chose to preserve this car. 1711 didn’t come to our museum right away, however. It was retired from active service in August 1988, and acquired from Port Authority Transit in April 1990.

Today, 73 years later, car 1711 regularly runs “in service” through Washington once again at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum!

Today's image is just as much about the views behind the streetcar, as it is about the streetcar itself!

When looking at this photo, your eyes likely immediately go to PCC 1604 (running on the 49 line). Behind the car, however, is a nostalgic view of Pittsburgh's iconic skyline during the 1970s. Decades later, several of the structures seen here have since been demolished.

What is your favorite part about this image, and the "days gone by" that it documents?
