Bradford House

Bradford House The Bradford House Museum is open for a guided tour year round by appointment. The House is open May through December for guided or self guided tours.

Built in 1788 by David Bradford, infamous leader of the Whiskey Rebellion, it is Washington County's first 18th Century home. We also offer Haunted History Walks, Candlelight Tours and other special events. We are part of the Whiskey Rebellion Festival each year that is held in downtown Washington and we host a Whiskey Rebellion Dinner as a fundraising event.

Students in grades 5–8 are invited to the Bradford House for a workshop inspired by Jean Fritz’s Alexander Hamilton: The Outsider. Students will explore Hamilton’s life and legacy while using primary sources and artifacts to learn about his military, political, and economic contributions to the founding of the United States.

Students in grades 3–5 are invited to the Bradford House for The Cabin Faced West Workshop! Inspired by Jean Fritz’s historical novel, students will explore life in 1790s western Pennsylvania through literature, a tour of the Bradford House log cabin, 18th-century games, replica artifacts, and hands-on activities.
