Most Finns have grown up with Moomin stories, including Finlandโs Prime Minister Sanna Marin. She is now happy to introduce these friendly fairytale characters to her daughter, Emma. Moomins, created by the Finnish artist Tove Jansson, can teach us valuable lessons about courage, friendship, equality, and respect for nature. Via the Moomin stories, we can learn about our own humanity, emotions and relationships.
You can experience Moomin stories and animations this fall at National Childrenโs Museum in Washington, DC! The exhibition, produced by the worldโs only Moomin Museum and brought to the US by the Embassy of Finland, is open until January 9, 2022.

Together, A.J. and Colin free the bat and speak to special guests from the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and Bee Girl Organization to learn how they can help protect and support pollinators of all kinds.

Want to be a part of the Museumโs new art installation? Hereโs your chance to be featured in the Entry Hall during our Grand Opening!
Submit a photo of the sky above you to be included in โSky Survey,โ a collaborative art installation designed by our artist-in-residence, Tommy Bobo! Using technology, Tommy will transform your photo into pixels (or a color grid made up of 48 squares!) to be displayed using lights in the Museumโs Entry Hall. Together, your photos and the sky drawings done by our in-person visitors will be combined to create a quilt of ever-changing color, capturing the sky in its many forms!
Share your photo with us at nationalchildrensmuseum.org/artist-in-residence/sky-survey/#submissions and visit us in person to see your photo become part of the installation! #ncmcreates
