The World Biotech Tour (WBT) is a multi-year initiative that will bring biotechnology to life at select science centers and museums. The program, supported by ASTC and the Biogen Foundation, will run from 2015-2017. In 2015, the WBT visited Belgium, Japan and Portugal and will continue to Canada, Australia, Italy, and Thailand in 2016. The WBT will increase the impact and visibility of biotechnolo

gy among youth and the general public at 12 science centers and museums worldwide through hands-on learning opportunities.

🎉IT'S HERE!🎉 The World Biotech Tour's final report on the key findings from the three-year project is available for view and download on the WBT's website - www.worldbiotechtour.org/final-report. The report is an effort to discuss the main successes and challenges, highlight lessons learned, and suggest recommendations to assist science museum and informal science education professionals in developing similar future programs or improving current programs. It was important for ASTC to take the opportunity with such a multi-faceted project to collect data that would be useful for the science center and museum field. May this report serve as a tool for science centers, museums, evaluators, and other science advocates in creating successful international programs that continue to connect people around the world through the wonder and awe of science.
Thank you to the Biogen Foundation for supporting public understanding of biotechnology 🔬 and to the amazing Association of Science-Technology Centers science centers around the 🌏 that took on this project and made it more than what we could have ever expected! FINAL REPORT - World Biotech Tour

We're still here! It has been a little quiet here because we have been working with an international team of evaluators on writing the FINAL report for the World Biotech Tour. The report will include the successes, challenges, and lessons learned over the three-year project. We collected valuable data from our 12 WBT sites and we're excited to share with you all! While the final report will not be done until August 2018, you can read a little on how the local and meta evaluations were done and some highlights from the report results on our website, http://www.worldbiotechtour.org/final-report 🤔👩‍💼✍️📖⏳

Evaluation of WBT was conducted by a local evaluation team that was proposed by the selected science centers/museums (Hosts) and hired by ASTC to report on program progress and visitor reactions to WBT events. ASTC provided overall guidance about the evaluation, then each potential evaluator submitt...

Biotech for everyone

The World Biotech Tour (WBT) is a multi-year initiative that brings biotechnology to life at select science centers and museums. The program, supported by ASTC (www.ASTC.org) and the Biogen Foundation, visited science centers and communities in Belgium, Japan, Portugal, Canada, Australia, Italy, Thailand, South Africa, Brazil, Poland, Finland, and Spain from 2015-2017. The WBT aims to increase the impact and visibility of biotechnology among youth and the general public through large and small-scale public science events, dialogue, and hands-on learning opportunities. A Youth Ambassador program is initiated at each of the participating science centers and enlists secondary school students (13-19 years old) in an immersive biotech research topic and communications training program. For more information about the project, including photos and videos from WBT events around the world, and free resources visit www.WorldBiotechTour.org.
