Opened in September 2009, The Fridge DC is an art gallery, performance space, music venue and classroom located on Barracks Row in the historic Eastern Market neighborhood of Washington, DC. Our mission is to foster creativity and community dialogue by serving as a conduit for expression through the arts and providing exhibition space to emerging and established artists. From exhibitions by well-k

As a music venue, The Fridge has supported everything from avante garde jazz ensembles and experimental electronic music to hip hop, blues, folk, and rock concerts. We have played host to a variety of performances- magic shows, comedians, dance, acrobatics, sideshows, poetry slams- and are home to weekly workshops focused on creating public art led by Albus Cavus.

Did you hear the news???

We’re getting the band back together & and restoring SANITY to Babylon central!

Stay tuned for your chance to help turn this pipe dream into pipe reality.

F**k the real estate scammers, f**k trump, f**k it all — I’m coming home baby.

And even better Shaymar Higgs will be running the show — while I return to being the resident weirdo, with my new gallery dog Bootsy in tow.

It’s the best news any of us have had all year.

Love you, mean it.

HUF1 & The Fridge Presents:
HUFOLOGY

FREE Opening Reception for the artist
Saturday May 7, 2016 from 6–11pm

The Fridge is excited to announce the premiere solo show of “HUF1” aka Christopher Huff, member of KGB “Krazy Graffiti Bros”—DC’s original & longest-running graffiti crew—with all-new paintings on canvas. If you have ever ridden the Red Line on DC Metro trains heading toward Silver Spring from DC, there is a pretty good chance you have seen this young man’s work—as you zoom past it, sprayed in letters 8-feet tall on buildings and rooftops (alongside fellow KGB crew-members CHE, AERA, GATOR, ULTRA, etc.).

The Fridge Gallery Director, Alex Goldstein, has personally known the artist since the artist was a student in DC high schools, and enrolled in the DC summer youth employment program for “graffiti offenders” when he helped Fridge-favorite DECOY paint her famous mural “From Edgewood to the Edge of the World.”

“I am so proud to introduce The Fridge audience to this incredible body of work, by a remarkable young artist. Mr. Huff has not only battled sickle-cell anemia his entire life, but has meditated and practiced so deeply on personally improving his health that he has actually used his own inner-visions of blood cells as the inspiration and subject matter for the paintings in this exhibit.”

Combining the artists love of pop-art, graffiti-art, fashion, and typography, these canvases are unlike any others shown at the gallery before, and represent and amazing step forward in the career of this burgeoning talent: HUF1.
