Federico Lira's work unfolds mainly through drawing and painting and has begun a process of exploration linked to collage and embroidery. His abstract compositions of free interpretation arise from the organization of a series of figures that interact within an imaginary space. Shape and color arise in an open but determined free play, where ambiguity, the organic and the geometric, the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional, are combined.

Yudy's work originates from children’s representations because her language includes fictional and playful elements, which allow her to enter a “particular and magical world (…), a world of fantastic theatrical scenes full of symbolism, anecdotes, fables, experiences and emotions that invite the viewer to look beyond the material reality that surrounds us.

“I grew up in Cuenca, Ecuador. It is a small, colonial city, where you are surrounded by a lot of visuals. There are the original cultures, there is the entire Inca legacy, very present and the Spanish crossing and all miscegenation is very present. There you can see all these processes that I work from the contemporary” - Karen Pazán about her work.

Jesús Armando Villalón, like so many other artists, has conceived his work inspired by the aesthetic principles of the French impressionists. His aesthetic, just like that of those, is based on capturing in his canvases the moment and the effect of light on the landscape and all the other things on which it affects; that is, capturing the changing behavior of light and color in reality, as a result of the artist's visual impression.

We can visualize this in Villalón’s work with the presence of mist, transparency, luminosity, dynamic compositions, heavy, thick, pasty, fast brushstrokes, in diffuse forms.

Bring Joy this Christmas, Gift Art!✨

There are many reasons we can list why you should give art on these dates.

✔️Artworks are unique and thoughtful gifts that demonstrate a deeper level of consideration. Unlike mass-produced items, art shows that you've put thought into selecting something special and meaningful.

✔️Unlike many other gifts, a piece of art can be a constant reminder of the person who gave it and the occasion it was given, becoming a cherished part of someone's living space.

✔️Art allows for a personal connection between the giver and the receiver. Whether it's a piece that reflects shared interests, memories, or the recipient's taste, art can convey a sense of intimacy that other gifts may not achieve. A carefully chosen piece can bring joy, inspiration, or introspection, adding a meaningful layer to the festive season.

✔️Many of our works are very affordable and you will be paying for a gift that will last a long time. We can adapt to your budget and style.

✔️By choosing art as a gift, you are supporting the work of artists. This can be particularly meaningful during the holiday season when many artists and artisans rely on sales for their livelihood.

We have many new works available for you to give the perfect gift! Visit our website 🌐arteoriginal .co or send us a message for advice.

“My work is a reflection about the representation of the contemporary landscape and how it relates to the way in which we connect with the natural world. Immersed in an era in which the threat to end a certain form of life which is closer to nature, the tireless search arises from the remnants of that relationship between man and the natural world – where there was a harmonious union, but at the same time, we always find the trace of human impact, with the advent of the end of this way of life. This reflects the disconnection of man with the landscape." - .cordua

Talk about AI is everywhere. I recently had a conversation with a group of people including one of my favorite gallerists as he was visiting DC. During our conversation the issue of AI came up. Would AI produced art take over art created by human artists?

Honestly, my friend, the gallerist and I both haven’t really given much thought to this issue. The reason being we see AI being an addition to art like many technological advancement had in the past. For instance when photography was invented, people thought that paintings would be obsolete.

We all know this didn’t happen. It actually allowed hyper realism painters to have a more keen understanding of depth perception. Also, when photoshop came into the market there were talks about photoshop taking over artists. Just like the invention of photography, photoshop enhanced artists’ work. For instance, some of our artists create surrealist artwork through photography and photoshop.

Also, art created by an artist is not only about showing off their technique. It’s their life story and the artist’s unique way of seeing the world. And the people who collect those art are the ones who can relate to that story. In that sense, we doubt that AI can fill that role any time soon.

“That inner need for expressions coming from the most intimate and the energies that are produced, are the recurring theme of the artistic work of the Colombian Angélica Ramírez, who through visual arts reflects on those energy centers that each one of us originates. (…)" - Ányelo López

Something that undoubtedly impacts her work is the technique. Angélica makes an assembly of threads that are joined together to create the forms, nowhere are weaved, sewn or embroidered, but they resemble concrete photographic plates capable of generating warmth and introspection to organic and personal worlds.

The exuberant women are always crowned by what looks like chromatic explosions that invade much of the support in the Asuaje's work. The artist has persistently explored this theme and mode of representation throughout his career. Such firmness in his speech could tell us about certain qualities that the artist attributes to the notion of the feminine: voluptuousness and bodily, ideological, creative, spiritual fecundity.

It seems like Carlos Blanco painting is heading towards abstraction, but when asked if he thinks his work will end up being purely abstract, he tells us that he doesn't know. “Perhaps I will end up merging them without being different”, is what he thinks at the moment.

In short, this artist, who is characterized by achieving in his works the maximum splendor of movement, chromatic explosion, and the effect of three-dimensionality, has the mastery of working simultaneously and harmoniously with two artistic styles as dissimilar as figuration - based on gestural strokes and stains- and geometric abstraction.

Can you identify these two artistic styles in his work?🧐

The works of Ana García () are made with mixed technique on paper and in small formats. Her language is figurative, with a realistic treatment of representation.

She usually portrays animals, which could visually bring her closer to natural illustration, but there are certain exploratory and free artistic gestures that try to move her away from scientific precision. Thus, the artist plays with non-symmetrical compositions and with fragmentation of the image. She builds volumes through layers and juxtaposition of techniques and materials. The dance between watercolor, ink, graphite and acrylic, give character and voluptuousness to her images.

Her figures have been extracted from their natural environments and stand in absolute white, seeming to emerge from the void, from a non-place, or perhaps from a place that is only conceived from the sensible. A kind of contrasting dialectic is then generated between everything and nothing, presence and absence, expression and silence.

Her work refers to the subtle, to a symbolic subjectivity, and to the harmonization and gratification of the senses. Do you like this work?

Hello! 😉This week we’ll continue our conversation on art tendencies in Latin America. Let's talk about cubism in Villafañe's work

When contemplating a work by Julián Villafañe it is impossible not to feel that we are witnessing universes or parallel planes of an everyday scene. Just as in the “multiple perspective” proposed by Cubism at the beginning of the last century, it is as if an object was disassembled and its parts were represented, seen from different angles, all coexisting on the canvas. His work has a fragmentary aesthetic, with a certain geometric configuration, as if the artist presented us with a kind of kaleidoscope that opens portals within portals.

Did you easily identify the similarities between Villafañe's work and iconic impressionist works?

You can see his work at as part of the Hispanic Heritage Month exhibit. All works are for sale, just contact us!

With this work we return to the conversation about the influence of the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century in Latin American art. Let's talk about fauvism.

José Caldas says: “Energy is in constant movement, and this energy is color. The energy that revolves around the bodies is a whirlwind of colors in perfect harmony.” His paintings by him, festive, vibrant and textured, remind us of the Fauvist aesthetic because the brushstrokes seem to be instinctive, energetic, spontaneous and his colors by him, pure, lively and saturated, are fundamental in the construction of the composition, the environment and all figures.

Did you easily identify the similarities between Calda's work and iconic fauvist works?

Avant-gardes and isms today?

We recently wrote an article that aims to identify the undeniable influence that the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century had and have today on Latin American art. How are we going to do it? Doing the exercise of tracing the visual keys of some of them in the work of the artists represented by Arte Original. We can start with Impressionism in the work of

Jesús Armando Villalón, like so many other artists, has conceived his work inspired by the aesthetic principles of the French impressionists. A few days ago we wrote about Magic Realism and how many premises of this literary genre are also transferred to the visual arts.

In the works of Yudy Márquez we can notice a narrative that refers to reality but mixed with elements that seem to come from a fantastic context.

How much of that can you notice in this work?
