Conley Barber Shop

This watercolor celebrates the quiet familiarity of Conley Barber Shop, a family-owned, generational business in Warsaw, Indiana. I was drawn to the timeless simplicity of the barber pole—its worn metal, steady stripes, and soft reflections standing against the geometry of aged brick and stone. More than a storefront detail, it felt like a symbol of continuity.

In this piece, I explore the importance of places that remain constant as towns change around them. Conley Barber Shop represents tradition, conversation, and everyday connection—a neighborhood landmark where stories are shared, generations return, and community quietly endures.

This watercolor captures the layered energy of neon at Silky O’Sullivan’s on Beale Street in Memphis, where looping tubes of light twist into something both chaotic and rhythmic. I was drawn to the abstract quality of the sign—the way glowing lines overlap and tangle, transforming familiar lettering into movement, color, and sound.

In this piece, I explore the visual pulse of Beale Street itself: vibrant, loud, and full of history. By focusing closely on the sign’s curves and connections, I wanted to celebrate the character found in overlooked details—the electric poetry of a place alive with music, memory, and motion.

Stag Bar
Bluffton, Indiana

This watercolor focuses on a close-cropped fragment of the neon sign from the Stag Bar in Bluffton—a familiar landmark that has since changed names to Unique Blue Bar. I was drawn to the geometry of the sign, but even more to the shifting shadows it cast across itself, where light, metal, and time created an unexpected abstract rhythm.

By isolating a single letter and its surrounding forms, I wanted to celebrate the overlooked beauty of everyday places and the quiet nostalgia held in changing storefronts. In this piece, the shadows become memory—preserving a moment from a local place that no longer exists in quite the same way.

Go Chicago

This watercolor captures the iconic glow of the Chicago Theatre in December, where bold reds, golds, and marquee lights cut through the cool geometry of the surrounding city. I was drawn not only to the theater sign itself, but to the way Chicago layers old and new—historic ornament framed by towering buildings and reflected back in glass windows nearby.

In this piece, I explore the energy of downtown in winter: festive, crowded, and luminous. The vibrant sign becomes both landmark and memory, standing as a beacon of shared experiences while the city quietly mirrors itself around it.
