🚀Big things are in the works at The Museum of Science Fiction & Fantasy Arts!

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting the creative team for the Museum of Science Fiction & Fantasy Arts in Warren. Hickok Cole, project architects from Washington, D.C., and GSM Studios, exhibit designers from Montreal, joined us for two days of tours and visioning sessions as we shape what the initial public launch will look like. We're extremely grateful to be working with such a talented group, and are excited to start narrowing down the experiences that will define the museum experience!

TCHS staff were thrilled to spend May 2 at the Columbus Metropolitan Library as part of this year’s Star Wars celebration alongside the The 501st Legion, and so many passionate fans, volunteers, and community partners.

We wanted to share some photos from the day. Our staff was just as excited to meet characters and get photos as the kids were! We also got to enjoy everyone’s reactions while looking at original Star Wars trilogy script drafts, and connected with so many people about the future of the Museum of Science Fiction and Fantasy Arts.

Some incredible numbers from the event include 3,887 visitors, 1,466 books circulated, and 600 lightsabers constructed throughout the day!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and helped make the day such a memorable community celebration.

Throughout the day, visitors had the chance to view original early script drafts from the Star Wars trilogy while learning more about the future of the Museum of Science Fiction and Fantasy Arts. It was amazing to share the project with so many new people.

A huge thank you to The 501st Legion for the tremendous amount of work they put into the event, the level of detail and dedication on display was truly impressive!

Thank you to for hosting this past Wednesday’s Motion Picture Summit & Open House. We got a behind the scenes look at their dynamic production space. From converted classrooms to full scale soundstages, the studio is an impressive example of adaptive reuse supporting the region’s growing film industry.

It was a pleasure to see John Zabrucky and his family, and to see him featured as part of the day’s program, including a panel discussion on film.

With the help of our volunteers, we recently moved the Modern Props merchandise collection from our warehouse to the future museum building for organizing and cataloging. Thank you to those who came out and made it such a smooth process!

While the iconic props are a major part of the collection, they’re not the only pieces of history—machinery, materials, and decades of memorabilia came along with them.

One of our favorite discoveries so far: a Deluxe Holiday Portfolio: High Class Art collection (circa 2008). As we’ve started going through it, we’re already spotting familiar designs and finished pieces alongside the original artwork.

This dragon head wall art began as a fully realized sculptural piece, with a detailed illustration by Steven Griffith commissioned afterward—capturing the design in a new medium.

Stay tuned as we continue cataloging—and uncovering more pieces of the story.

Meet our newest intern, Thomas Kempe!

“Hello, my name is Thomas Kempe, and I am an intern for the Museum of Science Fiction and Fantasy Arts. I am excited to work with the Trumbull County Historical Society on this project.

I am currently a senior at YSU, majoring in history with a minor in archaeology. I have been a science fiction and fantasy fan since childhood, with favorites including Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Jurassic Park. I would like to thank the Historical Society for this opportunity to combine my interests in history, sci-fi, and fantasy.”
