Ga Aviation Hall of Fame

Ga Aviation Hall of Fame The Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame The Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame is the only exclusively aviation-related organization chartered by the General Assembly of the State of Georgia.
(1)

In recognition of its importance to the State, the Georgia Legislature passed House Bill 110 creating the organization, which was formally signed into law by Govenor Joe Frank Harris on 19 April 1989. The Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame is established in the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, which is one of the fastest growing military aviation museums in the Southeastern United States. It is the mission of the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame to promote and encourage the growth and public support of aviation within the state of Georgia by honoring aviation leaders, living and dead, whose extraordinary achievements or services have made outstanding and lasting contributions to aviation, perpetuating the memory of such persons and recording their contributions and achievements through suitable memorials.

The B-17 "Flying Fortress" was supposed to be so well-armed that formations of them could fly over enemy territory with near impunity, killing off enemy fighters as easily as bug zappers fight off flies. But the reports of B-17 immunity were drastically overstated, and aviators paid the cost by t...

With deep sadness the AVG Flying Tigers Association informed us that the last living Flying Tiger, Frank Losonsky, passed away yesterday in Columbus,GA. Frank took part in the 2016 CAF Atlanta Warbird Weekend which we organized in honor of the Flying Tigers. During that event, we surprised Frank with a flight in "his" P-40. Frank has "headed West" and will be joining all the Tigers for a Hail & Farewell.

The Ga Aviation Hall of Fame's third inductee is Lance Toland! Lance is a Griffin, GA native. Working for Robert McSwiggan Academy Airlines at the Griffin Airport immersed Lance into the aviation culture of the time. After a week or so of deliberations with Atlanta-based underwriters, Lance saved McSwiggan’s company $85K in annual insurance costs without compromising coverages. Over the next 35 years, Lance Toland Associates grew to become a respected legacy, making its mark across the narrow-specialized spectrum of aviation insurance. For more information on Lance, visit our press release: https://www.museumofaviation.org/2019/02/13/georgia-aviation-hall-fame-induct-four-new-members-april-27/.
